Susan do you think Topalov played The Essent tournament too soon after playing in The World Championship match?
First, congratulations to Judit. A great come back for the best female player.
No excuses for Topalov. He played he lost. He still claims he is the best.
Nice tpr, 2930.
How do you recover when you lose an important chess game?
Also, did you feel Claustrophobia in the mri scan?
Am I the only one who desperatly hopes that Kramnik wins Mexico city only so that when he loses (against Anand or whoever) it will be in a real world champion event, aka match play.
SUsan congrats.to judit. Nicely done. I have a question. What ever happened to Andrei Sokolov?
Thanks
I would like to see Topalov take some time and learn a few things:
1. If there is a draw on the board, its ok to press a little with safe moves but unsound moves are not worth it, accept the draw in that case.
2. Focus on blunders.
Also congrats to Judit, too bad Shak didn’t lose his game so Judit could’ve taken 1st by herself!
I think nerves mean a lot for chess. Topalov did worse than what he really is. I believe it is not related with his chess but nerves. Happens.. But I don’t think that it is too bad for him-some time off the board would help him, but it is disasterous for Sokolov, non?
Of course congratulations to Judit !!! Perfect come back ! Congratulations to Mamedyarov too ! He did very well !
Susan you are great, this blog keeps us updated, great comments and analyses for the games and many other things, many thanks..
How about Hungary 2007 chess trip?
Regards,
ed
Topalov himself said that, in hindsight, he shouldn’t have scheduled another event so soon after the Kramnik match. On the other hand, I give him credit for living up to his commitment.
I haven’t noticed where Topalov “still claims he is the best.” Where did he say that?
Am I the only one who desperatly hopes that Kramnik wins Mexico city only so that when he loses…it will be in a real world champion event, aka match play.
I wouldn’t say desperately, but yes, I will be pulling for Kramnik in that event. It will be interesting to see how Kramnik responds should he lose. Will he acknowledge the victor as the new undisputed champion, or will he say that he remains the “classical” champion?
I’m very enthusiastic that Judit was winning 2 times against Topalov. I appreciate very much that she is always playing creative games with beautiful combinations.
Susan,
I remember reading somewhere your “baby sister” (Judit) is extraordinary high gifted person on IQ scale. Not very smart just in a game of chess but generally speaking.
Is that true, has she ever taken professionaly developed IQ test?
Thanks for your answer in advance.
Regards from a fan.
Estimate:
Judit +17.4 elo points from 2710 to 2727.4 getting back up there. nice rally in one tournament.
Shaki +15 points 2728 to 2743 NICE.
Topalov lost 16 in Match and 14 in Essent total loss 30 from 2813 to 2783.
Ivan lost 18.4
When a new GM gets invited to the super tournaments, does the inviting party give you a plane ticket and hotel room?
Susan: Any info on Fischer vs Karpov match for 15 million? Is this for real or a hoax?
Susan thanks for the wonderful comments. Topalov wil arise at Corus in January and wins the nicest tournament in the world 🙂

Hi Susan,
How hard do you find it to watch your baby sister play? Just wondering if you could share you feelings. Do you get all nervous for her? Do you find it difficult or rather easy to watch?
Thanks for your feedback.
Yes, it is a lot harder watching her play than playing myself.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar

I agree with you Susan. Both sides should just shut up.
