1. Bg7+ Kg8 (or 1…Bxg7 2. Qxg7#) 2. Bxf6+ Rxg4 (or 2…Kf8 3. Qg8#) 3. Rxg4+ Kf8 4. Bxd8 +-
The line looks promising, but need more analysis.
After 4….,Rc8;
5.Bf6,Nxd3;
black treats Nf2+ and prevents Re1, so white need to be careful.
too easy
1. Bg7+ Kg8. 2. Qh5 Bg7 (otherwise discovered check). 3. Qh6 wins
1. Bg7+ Kg8. 2. Qh5?? doesn’t work at all! First, because of 2. … Ne4! then if 3. Bxf6+ this loses to 3. … Nxg3+! 4. hxg3 Qxf6 and Black is up R+B. Second line of 1. Bg7+ Kg8. 2. Qh5 Bg7 3. Qh6? is bad because of simply 3. … f6! and the c7R covers the b7B. In this line 3. f6 is at least a little better that 3. Qh6? but it fails to 3. … Ne6 and 4. Qh6 Qf8 and black is still going to be up two pieces.
As anonymous and rail said the best line for White is 1. Bg7+ Kg8 2. Bxf6+ Rxg4 3. Rxg4+ Kf8 4. Bxd8 then 4. … Rc8. But instead of 5. Bf6!?, that bishop belongs better on h4 with 5. Bh4. Then after 5. … Nxd3, you play 6. Rd4. If the d3N moves then you have 7. Rxd6 and White is just fine. The tricky line after 6. Rd4 is 6. … Rc2! Now, since the bishop is on h4 (and covering f2), white can play 7. Rg1. Black may get compensation if White takes on d3 instead with 7. Rxd3 Rxg2 8. Rff3 Rb2.
1. Bf8
Bg7 finishes the game.
Qg7! looks best
Tom gave the best line so far, but even if I think white is better after 6….Rc2;7.Rg1, I’d be worried if black were a master playing against me.
I’d feel I don’t know how wrap things here.
Where are you, Susan?
i like 1. Bg7+ Kg8 2. QxRd4! Bf6xQd4 3. Bf6+! Kf8 and 4. BxQd8 give white one quality and one pawn more, after more analysis is needed but looklike promising for white
athe last anonymous posting is WAY off! The line 1. Bg7+ Kg8 2. Qxd4? Bxd4 3. Bf6+ Kf8 4. Bxd8 leaves Black with a Bishop and a Knight for a Rook and Pawn, which is actually better for Black!!! After 4. … Rc8 5. Bg5 Be5 White pieces absolutely no coordination, and the Rooks have no easy files to break through. On either 6. Rh3 or Re3 black plays 6. … Nb3 and will get knight to even a better square on d4, and black’s Rook controls the only clear file!!
