Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Susan,
Can yo provide some notes on the 1st round game by Nakamura. The king walk game.
Was it all sound?
Thanks
Woot!
2 names in particular
Hikaru Nakamura and Judit Polgar,
Why aren’t they playing in next month’s World Cup?
That’s amazing. Susan, are you going to be doing some analysis of the games?
How many rating points does Nakamura stand to gain?
In addition to congratulating him, award him with some USCF cash.
the uscf has no cash. they spent all the money to fight sam sloan’s lawsuit. all players have to suffer thanks to sam sloan, marcus roberts and their buddies. way to go mr. goichberg.
What is exciting is the level of fight in these games.
all white wins in the previous round.
didn’t see a lot of GM draws(but I didn’t look at all the games).
Nakamura only needing a draw in the last round fights it out for the win.
this was a really exciting tourney and Nakamura is a terrific role model.
Based on my calculations, only 16/45 games ended in draws in the tournament, which is only slightly more than 1/3. That’s just incredible for such a strong (>2600 average) tournament.
I think Nakamura stands to gain 17-18 points for his performance.
