Board 6 perhaps demonstrates fpawn’s point: the higher-rated player is not getting Black as is due.
Still think it would be more interesting if the lower-rated player got White (either all the time, or in the even of a colour-clash).
Check down the pairings for the Board 6 players. Taylor Bailey had white for rounds 4 and 5.
Why is there a White ‘Lubbock’ boot superimposed (?) on the photograph, and what does it represent?
the Lubbock boot is because Courtney didn’t have a flag so Paul gave her a Lubbock boot instead.
Did the SPNI supply the flags, and not have enough Texas flags?
Is Courtney from Lubbock/TTU?
Where can you get one of these Lubbock boot-‘flags’?
Texas Tech supplied all the flags and the players get to keep the flags after the event. One of the spectators took one flag for some pictures and forgot to put it back. At the time of the start of the round, one TX flag was missing so Paul offered Courtney the Lubbock boot. Courtney loved it and kept it as a good luck charm.
“Courtney loved it and kept it as a good luck charm.”
Courtney loved it so much infact that she has decided to become a Red Raider! Welcome to the family Courtney!
