Dubai Chess and Culture Club has opened the registration for the 19th Dubai Open Chess Tournament – Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Cup, which will be held from 3rd – 12th April 2017, at Dubai Chess & Culture Club (Dubai, UAE).
According to the Club’s representatives, many of the world’s leading chess grandmasters have already expressed their interest to compete in the Middle East’s longest-running elite chess tournament.

The event is open to all FIDE-rated players with a Standard rating of 1500 and above (as of 1 st February 2017). It will be a 9-round Swiss tournament with tempo of time 90′ + 30″.
The hefty prize fund in the amount of US $50,000 will be divided among the winners as follows:
Main prizes – US $13,000 + Trophy/ US $7,000/ US $5,000/ US $3,500/ US $2,500/ US $2,200/ US $2,000/ US $1,700/ US $1,500/ US $1,300/ US $1,200/ US $1,100/ US $1,100/ US $900/ US $800.
Special prizes – Best female: US $500/ US $350, Best Dubai Chess player: US $500/ US $350, Best Emirati Player: US $500, Best Arab player: US $500, Best rated player 2301-2400: US $500, Best rated player 2201-2300: US $500, Best rated player 2101-2200: US $500, Best rated player 2001-2100: US $500, Best rated player 2000 and below: US $500.
Grandmasters with a standard Elo of 2600+ and Women Grandmasters with a standard Elo of 2300+ may apply for Free accommodation in the Tournament’s official Hotel by submitting the Condition request form. The organizer will provide a limited number of complimentary rooms. Applying for accommodation doesn’t automatically make the player eligible to get a condition. If a participant is given accommodation, the organizer will contact the player directly with an official invitation letter to be signed and returned.
