Many people have asked who I will be voting for in the upcoming USCF Executive Board election. At this time, I will vote for the following individuals and I will explain why.
1. International Master Blas Lugo. Why? He is a successful chess player, organizer, coach, chess club owner, and his sole intention in this election is to help make the USCF better using his experience, ability, business acumen, and passion for chess. He has no political or personal interest. He is also multilingual and understands the needs and demands of a diverse membership group. He is NOT a part of the “good ol’ boys” network that would do anything to grab and maintain power for personal and political interest. He is an independent thinker and a tremendous asset to help set the USCFon the right course of recovery.
2. Dr. Mikhail Korenman. Why? He is a premier chess promoter, organizer, coach, and he is well respected and admired by many chess players from amateur to grandmasters, world champions and even Presidents. He has successfully organized many mega events in the United States, events which have brought in unprecedented positive media coverage. His experience in grant writing brought in big money for chess in Kansas. Like IM Lugo, Dr. Korenman is an independent thinker, multilingual and understands what it takes to improve the USCF. Many American Grandmasters have publicly endorsed him in this election because he has a most impressive chess résumé.
3. Dr. Eric Hecht. Why? The USCF has lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in the last few years and it is or will be nearly bankrupt if a proper course of action is not soon taken. Dr. Hecht is absolutely the most successful businessman among all the candidates, perhaps even the most prolific candidate ever. He has successful managed billions of dollars on Wall Street and he is a brilliant financial person. He has used his fortune to help chess by sponsoring many wonderful chess events from New York to Florida. Dr. Hecht has no personal or political ambition within the USCF. Like Blas Lugo and Mikhail Korenman, Dr. Hecht has the expertise and desire to help the USCF get out of the vicious cycle of failure and destruction.
I strongly believe that these three highly qualified people (Dr. Hecht, Dr. Korenman and IM Lugo) will be able to greatly help fix the many problems of the USCF and end the long-time pattern of corruption and abuse of power which is bankrupting this federation. They are “no nonsense” individuals and they will set this federation on the right course for years to come. They are all independent candidates and they do are not affiliated with any corrupt political parties. They will examine every issue and vote their conscience.
I will not vote for a fourth candidate. I will not vote for anyone who will irresponsibly advocate more legal battles which without a doubt will destroy and bankrupt this federation. I will also not vote for anyone who will advocate alienating and dividing various membership groups instead of uniting everyone, as well as putting their personal and political interest before chess and the USCF.
This federation under the leadership of current USCF President Bill Goichberg and USCF VP Jim Berry has been a disaster. On their watch, the USCF has lost hundreds of thousands of dollars while engaging in numerous lawsuits and legal battles in seven different states. Most were either provoked or started by them. They are responsible for wasting a massive amount of members’ money for frivolous actions. And yet they want another four years along with “their candidates” Mike Atkins and Ruth Haring.
They are desperately trying to hide many important facts about their actions (which have resulted in devastating consequences for this federation) from USCF members, while using Chess Life and the USCF website for their political propaganda so I would have no chance to respond and point out the truth.
Bill Goichberg has been involved with the USCF in various capacities for over four decades. Memberships are down, revenues are down, and expenditures are up. But he does not want to let go of his personal and political power even at the expense of the USCF and its members. He has his hands on nearly every election as far as I can remember. He keeps on recruiting people who will vote with him and for his agenda which has caused so much damage to the USCF.
Do you want a different direction for the USCF or do you want the USCF to continue down the same path with the same cast of characters?
The USCF CANNOT afford to lose a few more hundred thousand dollars while doing very little for its members. We cannot afford to have our leaders spend our money like it is their own. Let your voice be heard and vote for the most qualified candidates and NOT individuals who have personal, financial and political interests.
Make sure you have an official ballot to vote. Your ballot should be outside of your June 2009 Chess Life and it should have your name and USCF ID number imprinted on it.
Check the names of the candidates you are voting for, fold the ballot into three and mail it back to Taylor, Bilyeu & Company at
The United States Chess Federation belongs to its members. We can take back control of the USCF by voting in the candidates who will serve the membership and not their own interests. I am counting on you to make a difference. Every vote counts.
You can also read plenty of filings which the USCF purposely omitted to inform the USCF members here.
Could Susan, or someone else, explain what the lawsuits are about? This would help me understand why so many refer to some of the current USCF trustees as corrupt.
Thank you,
Brad Hoehne
Dear Brad,
I will publish the entire account in the next few days. I have never backed down from this kind of chess corruption in my life.
I took on FIDE and at one time my own Hungarian federation to make things better for all chess players for generations to come.
If no one would stand up against this kind of practice, the future of the USCF is not very bright.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar
We support you all the way. The USCF censored all posts which point out that USCF President Goichberg and USCF EB member Randy Hough and Jerry Hanken were engaged in a bribery scheme.
Goichberg controls the USCF and he and Bill Hall posted only half of the truth about the lawsuits. They don’t post negative decisions on their cases. Bribery is illegal in the U.S. and they’re hiding this despicable act from all USCF members.
They’re attacking and trashing Susan as a tactical plan to divert attention from their failure as board members.
Jim Berry has done nothing since he’s elected other than voting blindly with Goichberg. He’s already promised the Presidency if they’re reelected. So you do this for me and I’ll do that for you.
They don’t care about the members or the welfare of the USCF
When exactly is the election? I like your candidates and reasons for supporting them. Rock on! Thanks for all you and Paul do for chess.
Chase w.
It is too late for this year but what you really should do in the future is have thousands of flyers printed up to distribute to parents at Nationals about why they should join the USCF under the more expensive family membership which will entitle them to vote. Considering the thousands of dollars that chess parents spend on coaching and travel to tournaments, the membership fee is a drop in the bucket but will allow them to participate in elections. Otherwise you have the elections determined by a bunch of middle aged and older white guys, many of whom have personality disorders.
The election has started. Many people have already received their ballots which should be on the cover of the June Chess Life. If it is not there, you can contact the USCF for a ballot.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar
Thanks for your insight on the candidates.
I’m very angry that Bill Goichberg, Jim Berry and Bill abused their positions to harm others. Bill Hall posted incomplete, one sided and outdated account of the legal situation on the USCF website and Chess Life.
The USCF screwed up. Instead of apologizing to GM Polgar, they dipped their hands into members’ funds to cover up their misdeed with more legal BS.
They should be forced to reimburse the members every penny they’ve wasted.
I left USCF a long time ago.
ICC and your blog provides me what I need.
A must see website: http://uscf.fiorechess.org/
The corruption must end. Thank you Susan for fighting for all chess players no matter how Goichberg and the USCF smeared you.
How come the USCF isn’t investigating the bribery charges against Bill Goichberg and the cover up by Jim Berry and Bill Hall?
Bill Goichberg, Bill Hall and Jim Berry are also hiding about their screw ups with the B&E contract which costs the USCF a few hundred thousand dollars.
“The election has started. Many people have already received their ballots which should be on the cover of the June Chess Life. If it is not there, you can contact the USCF for a ballot.”
I have 4 members of the USCF in my household. Can I make copies of the blank ballot and have them vote using the copied forms or do they have to be originals from the cover of Chess Life?
Grundy the Troll Eater
They have to be original ballots. If you didn’t get them, you can request one from the USCF office.
I love Bill Goichberg. If he’s not re-elected I will quit chess and take up checkers.
“USCF Lifer” should look up the definitions of slander and libel. I know Randy Hough personally; he is a close friend, for many years, and he would not get involved in “bribery”. I think I know who you are, and I note for all to see that you have not been brave enough to provide your name, but you ARE “brave” enough to hurl invective when you cannot be identified. But I am providing mine. I throw down the gauntlet to you to PROVE what you say about Randy, or stop posting inflammatory blog posts. (Just for the record, I also like and respect Susan, a lot, and in this country, you are innocent until proven guilty. Nobody has proven Susan anything but beneficial for chess, and I for one am glad she’s chosen our wonderful game to spend her time in.)
Maybe I don’t know as much as you do, or as much as many others do. Maybe I know MORE than you. But my opinion is based on first-hand knowledge of someone who has served chess faithfully for decades, and does not deserve the charges you level at him. Randy may be controversial on occasion, but so what? There is a difference between controversial and corrupt.

I am so glad someone brought up the B&E. This has been a major source of revenue for USCF in the past
The B&E should be an issue in the election but I have not seen any discussion on the lawsuits or the new outsourcing to House of Staunton.
Susan do you know what are the new B&E contract terms? Who negotiated this contract?
You don’t need to resort to juvenile name calling. There are many people who don’t hate Goichberg but feel that he is out of ideas and passion for chess and that it is time for new blood on the board. I bet I am not the only person who is taking a chinese menu approach to the election: two from column A, one from column B and one from column C. That means that I am voting for Hecht and Korenman but also voting for two other “new” candidates. Personally I am looking for independent candidates.
lets all pull together to get them out of office instead of bickerin complaing lets all du our part to vote the proper n xperienced individuals in office to get uscf its members n all chess lovers somethin to b proud of i for1 beleive the current whtever there called dont want ne1 to kno whts happening instead of being truthful they attack paul susan n others to benefit them please lets unite uscf as a united n i stress united we stand goodluck to all who will du the rite thing
We, the voting USCF members, would like this legal B.S. going on over at USCF to stop. Our organization does not exist to make lawyers wealthier or, those in positions of trust wealthier!
Susan, please do what you can to stop the “corruption” but, don’t destroy our USCF in the process.
Thank You, USCF Member (ID# 12416871)
I support Susan 100%.
I will vote for the 3 candidates she supports.
I am a long time life member. The USCF is corrupted so very bad. We must get them out or the USCF will be in bankruptcy soon.
Goichberg has been ruling USCF in some capacity for 40 years. He just has to go.
I tried to post on the USCF President Goichberg and USCF EB member Randy Hough and Jerry Hanken were engaged in a bribery scheme.
They pulled the posting and told me I could not post on it. They probably pull half my posts. They never make it to the forums. All my postings must go through the moderators before they appear. they know I support Susan.
I am sure everyone who posts on the forums knows who I am.
Read the January issue of Chess Life there is an article on all the chess organizations that have gone out of business. Do not worry. A new better organization will arise out of the ashes.
The USCF has too many problems.
I will vote for 3 and only 3. Hecht, Lugo, Korenman. The 3 best of the best.
Right now the USCF Forums is celebrating the destruction of Susan. Make no bones. This is the end of the line. We must hold on here or the USCF is doomed. This is going to be a difficult brutal election and members need every vote possible.
It is your USCF. Your vote will determine the future. I have done all I can. I will cast my vote. If you do not vote then do not complain if the wrong people are returned and USCF goes bankrupt. It is in your hands.
Do not vote for a 4th as that 4th person might beat out one of the 3 by your one vote.
People like Bill Goichberg, Jim Berry, Brian Lafferty, Brian Mottershead, Jerry Hanken, Bill Hall don’t belong in any leadership role within the USCF. They know that what they did were wrong but they’ll do anything to cover it up even if it means destroying and bankrupting the USCF instead of apologizing or stopping their BS.
Bill Conrad, I like Randy too. But this time he took on more than he can handle. He wasn’t the mastermind in this bribery scheme. But he was a willing participant and the entire group (Bill Goichberg, Jerry Hanken and Randy Hough) was caught. The evidence is quite strong. It has been submitted to the court. He’ll have his day in court under oath. I wish him the best.
LAX, with all due respect, in order to know that there is “strong evidence”, you must be privy to that information. Unless it is still attorney-client privileged, you should share it here or one can only assume you are shooting blanks.
By the way, I am not “taking sides” here except to support my friend Randy Hough. I have still seen nothing to substantiate any type of allegation against him (and I think he’s being brought into this unfairly because he’s not even running in THIS election). Others, maybe, but Randy, no.
“Bribery” is a serious charge; unless you (whoever is the appropriate “you”) have the goods to back it up, you need to be careful what you say in blogs; you never know what serial litigants (other than Sloan, of course) are lurking around (and maybe drooling on) their keyboards…
And this will be my last comment on the matter (except, of course, to sign off with my usual: 1.e4! e6!! -+) 🙂
“”Bribery” is a serious charge; unless you (whoever is the appropriate “you”) have the goods to back it up, you need to be careful what you say in blogs; you never know what serial litigants (other than Sloan, of course) are lurking around (and maybe drooling on) their keyboards…”
Bill, after this you are going to be looking for new friends. The ones you have are not who they say they are. You are a good friend who has been given the misfortune of having bad friends.
My condolences.
I agree with and support what Bill Conrad has written. I admire his willingness to put his name down and I pity all the rest of the Anonymous cowards on this blog.
I have lost two friends whom I had greatly respected in the chess world.
Michael Aigner
“I have lost two friends whom I had greatly respected in the chess world.”
Michael, why did you lose friends?
Were they crooks and serial litigants?
You should never shed a tear for those types of friends or Eva Perron.
I think you are a decent guy.
Just barking up the wrong tree.
Frankly.
What does all of this look like to the outside world? Like chess players and promoters are a bunch of crazy people. Even if you overlook the eccentricity like the fact that an adult chess tournament smells worse than a hockey locker room due to the number of people with bad hygiene or the chess players who still light up cigarettes in hotels and clubs that are clearly advertised as non-smoking, you cannot ignore the irrationality of all these lawsuits.
Michael, I have followed your chess pursuits in recent years and must say I am impressed with what you have accomplished as a chess player, instructor and organizer. I do not agree with your choice of candidates but that does not diminish my respect and admiration of your personal accomplishments.
I served four years in the Marine Corps so we can all enjoy the freedom to believe and do as we wish. That said, I must confess I am dumbfounded how anyone, especially chess players – who are trained to deduce a given position and arrive at the best possible solution, be duped into buying the rhetoric. The problems with the USCF go back long before Polgar arrived on the scene, check with Evans and Alburt. But hey…I ramble.
Continue the good work you are doing with chess – I believe you have had a direct and/or indirect impact on the titled youth that is emerging on the west coast.
Keep up the great work!

To read the filings against Goichberg, Berry and the USCF
http://www.chessdiscussion.com/fullphpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2565
I am grossly uneducated about the ongoings at the USCF. My only issue is from a perspective of a small local TD. It is the dues paid for children, I believe that they should include the magazine for kids beyond 12 y/o. I subscribe to the family plan but my daughter still reads the Chess Life for Kids. The annual dues are a roadblock for many who want to participate.
CowboyNoel, the problem is simple. Goichberg, Berry and their people support the idea of milking money from members, especially scholastic players, to fund their political agenda instead of doing the right things for the USCF.
Here is a thought– don’t vote for anybody else. The ballot says “vote for up to four candidates”. By not adding another vote it strengthens their positions. Or you can write in my name, a single outlier will not affect anything.
Silly idea. You must vote to throw out the corrupt bums. Goichberg and Jim Berry must go.
DISGUISING USCF LOSSES
Phil Innes claims that the USCF finished a half million in the red this past year, if one does not factor in rare monies from bequests. He argues that the Federation squandered money on legal actions. I would add, if one knows how our politicians work, they also provided for themselves fine provender and wine from what some good people left the USCF.
Phil’s points are evidently accurate.
Too — and here is the subject of my posting today — I received a message from someone within the USCF structure, whom many of us know, stating that Board members may already be aware of two further legal actions to be filed against the Federation. If true, one calls on Board members to make public what they know.
Is it true that tournament bids are being awarded on the basis of kickbacks and favoritism? I personally sat in on a Policy Board meeting in 1985 in which the Board members openly discussed having already decided to award the US Open to one bidder, though recognizing that another bid was superior. This was the famous instance in which Board member Jerry Hanken announced in public session that he already had the Los Angeles U.S. Open bid locked up before it was awarded and before presentations had been made!
I had been called into the meeting for my criticisms of Campomanes’ crooked termination of Karpov -Kasparov 1, and the Board members somehow forgot to tell me to leave. So I sat in on the meeting when in private session his cronies berated Hanken for announcing in advance that the Board intended to reward him. Angrily, they told him that they were now forced to award the tournament to Portland, which was organized by an outsider, who probably had not been making the required payoffs. (The Portland event is commonly regarded as the finest US Open — along with the event in Hollywood, Florida — over the last quarter century.)
At one point, members of the Policy Board realized I was still in their midst and sent me packing pronto. I was ordered not to divulge what I had heard.
That is the crookedness inside the Federation. One can bet that odds are current members of the Board are arranging tournament bids for their financial or political benefit.
The penny-ante crookedness of USCF chess politicians is really quite remarkable.
Randy Bauer ran repeatedly for office so as to join them. His attempt to disguise the huge Federation loss tells us what we need know about this worthy character…
Yours, Larry Parr
Susan,
I don’t get it so I am going to ask the source. If the candidates you are supporting are elected will you remove the USCF as a defendent in your lawsuit and only sue the board members individually. I’m conflicted because I do support you, but if you are going to bankrupt the USCF regardless of who gets elected with a lawsuit, then it kind of seems counterintuitive in a sense.
I’m not saying that you should not pursue legal remedies, but if there is a settlement, then that actually may hurt the USCF while the individuals are long and gone…
The new board would have to continue the lawsuit.
Please advise.
Please don’t pay attention to the USCF propaganda. I offered to release the USCF for the sum of $1. You can download and read the offer right here: http://www.chessdiscussion.com/fullphpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2565
The USCF is in this lawsuit because Bill Goichberg, Jim Berry, Randy Bauer, Randy Hough and Bill Hall want it to be so they can hide behind this federation to hide their problems.
The USCF has insurance to cover for the defense. They’re not even telling you the truth. The problem is these individuals spent hundreds of thousands of dollars going after board members, delegates and members in court. They abused their power and they violated numerous USCF bylaws. The delegates did not approve this. That is why they won’t say how much money they spent to litigate and investigate.
They are also not telling you that they are being sued by others for their conduct. I sued these parties in one court. They are in litigations in 7 states! But they won’t tell you that either.
Everything will come out. Things will not end and the USCF will not get better as long as these people are in power. I will fight as hard as I could to get rid of this corruption once in for all. This is for the sake of players for generations to come. I will do everything in my power to protect this federation so it can thrive.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar
The USCF isn’t going bankrupt because of these lawsuits. They’re going bankrupt because Bill Goichberg, Jim Berry and Bill Hall authorized the USCF to spend over $500,000 to go after their political opponents. What Goichberg said is full of BS. He, Jim Berry and Bill Hall should be held accountable for the money they’ve wasted.
I have my BALLOT
It just arrived. Let’s see. I took it off the magazine. Who should I vote for. How about
Hecht. Great man. Vote for him for sure.
Lugo. One of my favorite people.
Korenman. I voted for him last time. What a guy.
Well I guess I could only find 3.
My Ballot is all filled out and ready to go. I hope everyone votes for the best 3 people to save the USCF from bankruptcy. After 40 years of my being a Life Member watching failure by the USCF it has become time to take the advice of Einstein. The problem with the USCF is inherent in the business structure of the federation. It must change. There is no checks and balances. The President voted in by 4 members of the EB has dictatorial powers. The Delegates as the Board of Directors is fragmented and powerless in the chaotic confusion of their one meeting a year with Delegates for the day. Thus the Delegates do not suppress the dictatorial power of the President. The federation needs a system of checks and balances.
Secondly the customers run the federation for their own business profits. The TD and Organizers are the customers of the federation but they run the federation to keep the cost to them running a turnament as low as possible so all profits flow to the Organizers like Goichberg and his CCA. Scholastics are ignored and abused because Goichberg does not make a personal profit from scholastics and thus refuses them any power. They are used as a source of income.
There is not transparancy. So we do not know if HoS is giving Goichberg money under the table for the contract which is a disgrace compared to the old contract with Chess Cafe. The federation and members always lose under the present system. We must have new leadership or face bankruptcy. There is no other sane rational realistic choice. I love the USCF and beg everyone to vote for Hecht, Lugo, Korenman and no one else. 3 votes only. Your 4th vote might knock out one of these 3. So it is too dangerous to put in a 4th vote.
Einstein said::: Insanity is doing the same thing expecting different results.
that means to me
Insanity is voting for Goichberg and expecting different results.
This past year alone Goichberg has spent $500,000 over and above the cash income. He has destroyed a great financial income from Chess Cafe. He has eliminated Chess Life magazine while spending huge sums on his personal political agenda to destroy Susan who he sees as his opposition. The list goes on.
3 pieces of scotch tape to seal it up good and she is ready to go. Guaranteed to be at the Post Office in the morning.
And my message to all those who did not get my 4th vote. ( redacted as against the AUG. hahahaha. ) Once every 2 years I get a tiny voice. I am making the best of that small voice. If there are more like me we will make a different voting together as a unit.
The USCF should report Bill Goichberg to the proper authority for being involved in a bribery scheme last year. Unfortunately, Jim Berry, Randy Hough, Bill Hall, Ruth Haring, Mike Atkins and the rest of the gang will just close their eyes and allow corruption at the highest level to continue.
Hall and Goichberg are responsible for getting the USCF sued by their official vendor for their incompetence.
Goichberg, Berry and Hall caused the USCF to waste over $600,000 in the last 2 years for their political and personal agenda.
The members must get rid of these corrupt chess politicians if they want the USCF to survive. Re-electing them and Ruth Haring and Mike Atkins will for sure bankrupt this federation almost immediately.
I love your courage.
Good luck and best wishes
A. Weiler
My family is new to chess and the USCF. What is not new to us is corrupt or incompetent board members running non-profits into the ground.
I commend you for taking a stand for chess and the youth (which is what it’s all about).
A word of caution: Because Paul is your husband and trusted biz partner, it would be better if he reclused himself from the entire affair. His tarnished financial situation does not help the cause.
Good luck and I hope you succeed in bringing about much-needed reform to the USCF.
John L. in Nashville
One tournament organizer recently made an excellent bid to the USCF to host various national championships in Chicago. One of Goichberg’s most profitable chess tournaments also takes place in Chicago at a similar time. The motion to award a multiple year bid to the Chicago organizer would have passed 3 (Yes) – 2 (No) -1 (Abstention) if Goichberg had recused himself from voting due to his conflict of interest with Continental Chess. Goichberg refused to recuse himself, and his Board majority refused to ask him (Goichberg) to recuse himself, and the motion was at a 3-3 deadlock when the Board voted. The USCF sees annual cash inflows in the range of $3.2 million through the dues of its 80,000 members, grants, gifts, advertisements, bequests, sponsorships, et cetera. At one time, the USCF annual revenues exceeded $6 million. For the last thirty years, Goichberg, through his constant presence on the USCF Executive Board, has managed to unlawfully cause many thousands of dollars to be unfairly directed to his pocket, his political allies, and the coffers of Continental Chess.
This is why Goichberg, Berry, Atkins, Haring and other Goichberg’s friends must not be elected. The corruption must end.
Defendants Hanken, Hough and Goichberg wanted so badly to see Truong removed from the Board that they even went as far as bribing a USCF member, Jessica Lauser, and her husband, Hero Smith, with free hotel accommodations, airline tickets, tournament entry fees, meals and future writing opportunities in exchange for them to come to Dallas for the Delegates Meeting and vote to remove Truong. Lauser was never a Delegate, and Smith was not even a member of the USCF until days before the USCF Delegates’ Meeting, when Hanken, Hough and Goichberg paid Smith’s membership fees. Hough and Goichberg then certified both Lauser and Smith as Delegates so they could vote against Truong in the motions to remove Truong from the Executive Board. After the “USCF trial” against Truong, Lauser and Smith voted against removing Truong from the Executive Board. Despite attending the meeting with the purpose of voting for Truong’s removal, they changed their votes after hearing facts Truong presented in his defense and which facts were suppressed by
Defendants Kronenberger, Goichberg, Hall, Hough, Hanken, and Berry.
It’s pathetic that the USCF and the board majority (Randy Bauer and Jim Berry) chose to cover up corruption and illegal conduct by the USCF President Bill Goichberg and others.
Now it’s clear why Goichber are so anxious to go after Polgar. He doesn’t want anyone who can expose his long time pattern of despicable behavior on the board. Bauer is screaming about fiduciary duty all the time and yet he and Jim Berry chose to do NOTHING! What a hypocrite!
Example 1: (Hanken to Goichberg)
Come on Bill, I will go half on the airfare. There are so many good reasons to do this. Give it some thought. Just think what going half means to me and what it means to you. If we lose a critical vote, you will think of this. All the money you have given the USFCF will be in the toilet if we ultimately lose this fight.
Jerry
Example 2: (Hanken to the person who they bribed)
If Bill says “yes”, you wouldn’t owe anything to him. I asked for a sponsorship gift, not a loan. At the Open, you could still spend lots of time with … Also you may have some pay for the blog you will do for Jennifer.
…Notice that I am willing to provide some food for you and …. I will have a fridge which will help. As to changeing, aren’t you on Southwest? They .don’t charge to change or cancel a trip.
Example 3: (Hanken to the persons who they bribed)
Dear …. and ….,
If …. is willing to serve as a Delegate, it is important that you go on line today (when it is still July) and purchase a six month membership in USCF. It is $25 and I will personally reimburse you this money. I hope to talk with you later today, ….
Jerry
Note that both persons were certified by S. CA and NY (by Goichbrg himself), states of Hough, Hanken, and Goichberg!!! And look up when one person became a USCF member, days before the vote. There are plenty more. It can also be backed up with phone records among all parties. You can do your own research for the rest.
Bribery is illegal. This one involved the USCF President Bill Goichberg, USCF Secretary Randy Hough and Chess Journalist of America President Jerry Hanken. USCF VP of Finance Randy Bauer, USCF VP Jim Berry and USCF ED Bill Hall are hiding this very serious illegal conduct from ALL USCF members. When will honest Randy Bauer, Jim Berry and Bill Hall launch an investigation against Goichberg, Hough and Hanken? Hmmm? When will you demand for Goichberg, Hough, Bauer, Hall and Berry to resign? How come I don’t hear the bogus moral outrage scream from Harry Payne, Ruth Haring, Mike Atkins, Brian Lafferty, Brian Mottershead, and the rest of the gang? Where’s the phone call from Lafferty to the authority to report this illegal conduct? How pathetic!
Note that the legal fees for Continental Chess is paid for by the USCF instead of Bill Goichberg personally while Goichberg and the USCF denied Polgar and Truong of indemnification.
Also note that Fred Gruenberg is at least the 4th person who has corroborated with the bribery charges against Goichberg, Hough and Hanken.
How come the USCF attorneys are not investigating this issue? How come the USCF attorney are not reporting this illegal conduct to the authority as they have done with others, especially when the proof is in black and white? How come the members are not informed of this illegal conduct instead of the BS that is being put in Chess Life and CLO by Bill Hall?
How come honest Randy Bauer and Jim Berry are not talking out about this? How come honest Bauer and Jim Berry are not demanding an investigation?
How come Goichberg’s candidates Ruth Haring, Mike Atkins and people who are on his camp like Brian Mottershead and Brian Lafferty are not demanding for Goichberg and Hough be removed from the Executive Board for their illegal conduct?
How come all these guys are not demanding to have Jerry Hanken removed as President of Chess Journalist of America? And these are pretending to demand for transparency and honesty?
Dear Bill Goichberg,
I just got my subpoena to produce documents for your case against Susan and Paul.
Not a problem – I have absolutely nothing to hide.
But I am appalled at who is requesting this information.
IT IS CONTINENTAL CHESS!!!!!!
Not the USCF. Not Sam Sloan. Nope, it’s you, Bill Goichberg.
Why the vendetta? When I found out that you and Jerry Hanken arranged, by paying for rooms and free entries, to have Jessica and her husband Hero, vote to expel Susan and Paul from the board and your lawyer accusing them of doing things that are still in question – I decided I really don’t want to associate with an organization run like this.
After your failed attempt Jerry Hanken sent me a ” drop dead – get lost” email.
Hanken and you are the reasons I am getting out of chess.
And now you are personally pursuing this. You should be ashamed!!

(There are a total 9 emails between USCF President Bill Goichberg, USCF EB Secretary Randy Hough, Journalist of America President Jerry Hanken and the individual who was bribed. These two individuals were certified as delegates from Southern California delegate and NY Downstate by Bill Goichberg. These emails are now part of the evidence.)
Did the USCF investigate the bribery charges related to USCF President Bill Goichberg and his gang?
Why didn’t the USCF turn over all the bribery evidence to the authority? How come the USCF is hiding the facts from its members?
Could you please explain this? Isn’t bribery illegal? And now Goichberg is endorsing Ruth Haring, Jim Berry, and Mike Atkins so the corruption can continue?
I voted for IM Blas Lugo, Dr. Eric Hecht, and Dr. Mikhail Korenman.
I am from abroad (Europe) and dont know about this issue, other than I read similar stuff one year or two years ago. Why havent you gotten rid of those people yet?

The article is right on the homepage when it comes up. The article #1 titled “Najer and Nakamura Win the 2009 World Open!” points to a website that gives World Open results and then has a section about the election.
I don’t begrudge Goichberg’s use of his private company to promote himself. After all, a big part of his experience in chess comes through the many big tournaments that he runs. For some people, this
experience is why they are voting for Goichberg. For other people, the conflict of interest is a reason to oppose his reelection.
However, I find it most unfortunate that in the middle of a political season, that Chess Life Online pointed to a page with such a prominent campaign message posted. There is no article written about World Open at all; the link posted is given in lieu of an article, which probably will appear in a day or two.

If you care about the USCF, please send in your vote. The USCF will die if Goichberg, Berry, Haring, and Atkins are allowed to continue to abuse the USCF system.
Reliable sources report that the USCF is completely out of money.
This means that the USCF has exhausted the entire $350,000 bequest that it received earlier this year and has exhausted its entire line of credit too.
It is time for Bill Goichberg and Bill Hall to resign and step aside.
They are incompetent and simply cannot do their jobs.
