Aronian!, we have only corus to talk about the great player ( Bu and Nakamura don’t sit here yet). Carsen is talked about a lot but he was very lucky to score those points in corus. people remember only his Kramnik’s ( who was not well)game. Dont people remember he was loosing 2-3 times in corus and lost to Vishy. Aronian was stable and won the tournament. Had Anand been good in initial rounds I would have said Anand, but as of now Aronian.
Magnus Carlsen by far!!! Yes, the Topalov vs Kramnik game was amazing…but Topalov’s overall performance at Corus was very dissapointing. It looks as if he saved, and then used all his energy on that game.
Carlsen will strike again. He’s the new Bobby Fischer.
Kramnik will win the Championship this year. He will prepare for half a year, because he knows that it’s the Championship where the big money is. Anand is too naive to prepare seriously enough for this event. Look at both their performances against Kasparov in 1995 (Anand) and 2000 (Kramnik).
Topalov is in decline, despite his win against Kramnik in Wijk (even the decisive opening-novelty was prepared by Cheparinov, not by Topalov himself!) The fateful Championship 2006 and it’s scandals obviously affected Topalovs play. (Something that people also said about Spasskys’ play after 1972) I expect Kamsky to win the Candidates Final against Topalov.
Bu of China.
Kramnik. He’s the world champion so of course he plays the best chess.
Topalov against Kramnik is a game for the generations. The game is already immortalized. People will talk of it for many many years to come.
Hikaru Nakamura who harakirid Bu’s king.
Seriously, coming back a game and a half from 1st to win the tournament is remarakable feat for Nakamura, who always plays exciting games.
Nakamura is on a roll and he is playing take no prisoners chess.
Carlsen! so much to learn and yet so strong!
Rocky Balboa!
The Eyetalyun Stallion!
The world champion was whipped by a 17 year old.
Next years predition:
Everyone gets beaten by an 18 year old.

Clearly Aronian, he played the best chess in the biggest tournament so far. It is a shame that he was sick in Mexico last year.
