Anand was very lucky to win. Topalov self destructed.
As always, Anand is so modest. I have hardly heard any controversy circling Anand in the chessdom.
Topalov’s interview in http://www.sportal.bg/news.php?news=237308
Some translations by mishanp of what Topalov said in the interview:
1. “So that the result was a failure, but the impressions it left weren’t. Everyone can see that Anand didn’t really win the match – I lost it. He simply defended well.
2. “He missed only one win – in the ninth game, while I missed four. We destroyed his opening preparation in the first game and he played without openings”.
3. “The match was hard but as a whole I controlled it better. If you noticed the reactions of Anand he was nervous in many of the games. In that regard I think that overall I was better than he was.”
Someone said on another forum that Topalov talks like he played – overconfident.
Looks like Kramnik was right after all, regarding Topalov(soreloser).Notice something interesting ,Anand likes to use “WE” instead of I.This man is a gift to the chess world when it comes to humility.Something which other great world champion chess players lacked.
Forget all this – where is the trophy?
Anand is at the top of the world, good things hapen to good persons.
congrats
Every great man has a great women behind. Anand has a wonderful wife while Topalov is lonely.
Excellent interview: pity about the music.
Anand is very genuine, straightforward – a real nice guy. That’s part of why he has so many fans.
Once one starts posing – telling it like it isn’t – bigging it up unreasonably – one is losing out and going down. ‘Tell it like it is: keep it real’ is a good motto.
