I expected to see Anand’s name at the top of the April FIDE rating list. So did many other people. However, FIDE came out with the list today and Topalov remained at the #1 spot. It seems that Linares was not rated.
Jakovenko as expected joined the 2700 elite list. Sasikiran and Shirov exited that 2700 club. Here is the top list:
1 Topalov, Veselin g BUL 2791
2 Anand, Viswanathan g IND 2778
3 Kramnik, Vladimir g RUS 2772
4 Aronian, Levon g ARM 2759
5 Mamedyarov, Shakhriyar g AZE 2757
6 Morozevich, Alexander g RUS 2756
7 Leko, Peter g HUN 2749
8 Radjabov, Teimour g AZE 2747
9 Ivanchuk, Vassily g UKR 2735
10 Adams, Michael g ENG 2734
11 Gelfand, Boris g ISR 2733
12 Svidler, Peter g RUS 2731
13 Polgar, Judit g HUN 2727
14 Navara, David g CZE 2720
15 Ponomariov, Ruslan g UKR 2717
16 Grischuk, Alexander g RUS 2717
17 Bacrot, Etienne g FRA 2709
18 Jakovenko, Dmitry g RUS 2708
19 Kamsky, Gata g USA 2705
Here is the full top list.
Go Topalov! He’s #1!
Linares missed the cutoff for submission of results.
However, this isnt good as it may set Anand Fans against Topalov Fans… I wonder who benefits from this?
Hopeless….Will Anand ever get to see the world from the # 1 spot ??? Why is it always hard on him ??
Anyone know which is the next high rated tournament after this recently held Amber ???
Seems like Topalov and his Damager again at work, in last 5 years Linares was always included in April list so why it is missing this time is anybody guess.
This guy is always getting the short end of the stick…Linares has always been counted for the April list. I have no idea why it has not been counted this time…
Hi,
it is really so important who is #1 on that list??. Prof. Arpad Elo has said that this list is the additional factor, only.
Where is the reason to ssory between Vishy and Vesko fans ? I do not see anything. The list is published by Fide, may be the report from the tournament was delayed or sth were missing.
Regards
Pony.
Once again, despite the bogus World Championship at Elista, justice is served and Topalov remains the number on player. To bad the so called World Champion can’t claim the same.
Pony, Why report is delayed from this year only ? Linares was always included in April list. Obviously this is conspircy by Topalov and so called this grand slam organisation to keep Topalov N1.
As Susan tells us about USCF problems, and I support her, who will tell us FIDE´s misery, huh?
This only adds one more of FIDE “mistakes” and corruption. But who is going to speak against all powerfull tycoons at FIDE?…
Topalov an evil man. He is used to stole games and rankings shame on chess federataion!
If Kramnik cant be No1 then neither can Anand… this is a clear conspiracy by Kramnik to prevent Anand from being the No1 rated player…
‘Why report is delayed from this year only ? Linares was always included in April list. Obviously this is conspircy by Topalov and so called this grand slam organisation to keep Topalov N1.’
:-)))
Why the other reports were not delayed ? Usually delay is standard.
Conspiracy from Topa group ? 😉 another fairy tale.
Fide supports Kramnik and his environment.
May be Kramnik scores in the Netherlands liga were not so good and he lost to much points. 😉
What are the real benefits of being #1 on the list ?
Regards
Pony.
Well what else can be expected.
When Danailov and Topalov misbehaved at Elista, Kirsan supported them.
When Danailov and Topalov broke the Fide Ethics Rules, Kirsan supported them.
When the new rule changes were published, Topalov was given a quick shot at Kramnik after Mexico if Kramnik held his title.
Everyone knows Danailov gives the moves to Topalov and Kirsan does nothing about it.
Kirsan gave Topalov the same seat at San Luis and allowed him to cheat with Danailov sitting there with a computer on his lap.
Omigawd, and then on top of all this cheating we have people who support the cheaters. Some of these people are right here posting. Maybe these posts are by Danailov and Topalov and his computer Cheparinov.
Watch out at Mtel. That one is run by Danailov.
totally unfair and it shows FIDE’s poor organization …
A shame!!
“cheating,” “conspiracy theories,” “corruption,” “hopeless,”…with such adjectives I need go no further…
The entire chess world seems to be in chaos. Everyone “taking sides” with one player and hating the WCC.
With both the USCF and FIDE in such a mess, it’s completely demoralizing for chess fans.
Beyond one’s local club and state level organizations….Chess on the world stage is rather like a Greek Tragedy (or comedy)…
the so called fans should be a bit more Stoic and accept what cannot immediately be changed! On this day, you cannot change who the WCC is..it is Kramnik (love him or not). Topalov is still #1 (love him or not). And the political situation cannot be changed overnight.
Accept this. Find peace with yourself.
Change will come, eventually to both FIDE and the USCF….Positive change. It will take the good work of a lot of good people.
But posting spiteful posts helps nothing. Life goes on.
Chess exists outside and beyond FIDE and the USCF. It’s played everyday across the world.
Can anyone ever accentuate the positive aspects of the game, the well-known players, etc.?
It would just be nice to see some positive comments on here for once.
If it is so bad for you, so emotionally scarring that one must write hateful words about the world’s top players consistently….why not just take a break and realize that their is more to life than who is the WCC or who is #1 in the world?
Seems like a lot of folks could use some lessons in meditation and logic…then post something worthy of taking up space on this blog.
Why drag Cheparinov into it? When the unseemly events are happening, he’s usually in the lobby flirting with the ladies, or playing new lines in the Volga Gambit.
poor Anand, last rating cut off bundesliga was cutted and Topalov was #1 after Elista and Hogoven (?) tournament, now after all congratulations once again Linares was cutted off, ya, it could be just mistake, but take away Danailov from Grand Slam, in this case we will lost Linares and Wejk as real top tournaments, like Sofia this year is not as strong as last tournaments (Topalov, Mamedyarov, Adams, Kamsky, Nisepianu, Sasikiran), this year Dortmund is stronger (Kramnik, Anand, Leko, Gelfand, Mamedyarov, Carlsen, Alekseev, Naidich)
hey, anil and the rest the screaming nuts — what do danailov and topalov have to do with this rating business?
get a hold of yoursel and don’t project your life frustrations on topalov, ok?
It dawns on me! Topalov rules!
*smiting my forehead, Vohaul
I am surprised you lot are all falling for this April Fool’s Joke, make no mistake I am a Topalov supporter.
King.
Where can I find the formula for calculating chess elo?
Is it the same for men and women?
Is the formula the same for humans and computers?
Is the same formula used for Internet chess ratings?
So many thanks for all chess information.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELO_rating_system
Wiki link that provides the ELO formula and a satisfactorilly facile explanation of implementation.
Besides the money for nothin’ and the chicks for free that come with the #1 FIDE rating, will someone please extol unto me the other perks?
Please, if #1 doesn´t mean anything, then why have a rating at all?.
And to “anon Saturday, March 31, 2007 8:11:00 AM”, please, I can understand your love and peace message.
Life goes on ok, but history is on the making; else, live allways in meditation… and the title of this posts reads clearly, so thx for your positive message, it always help, but don´t try to deny issues and hide the sun with your hands.
honest mistake. yeah right.
look at the bright side – Karpov is not in 100!
Ok. If it missed for april list, it will be included for may list ?
So the ratings will be ajusted on may list then ?
I agree the rating is not important. Since the world champ is still Kramink, the no 3 on rating list.
The rating only show that #1 is predicted to be better than #2.
In reality it does not guarantee that #1 will always win against #2.
In reality Kramnik is the champ, and he is the one to beat.
Topalov is the #1. Who else is smart enough to use use and interpret hand signals and microelectronics to win tournaments?
They couldn’t give Topalov the World Title, so they tried to give him the #1 spot instead. Sheesh.
So this is april fool ratings.
FIDE just fixed the ratings today, and shows Anand as no 1 seed now.
