I am willing to experiment: Anand
Chennai, May 17
Chess maestro and World No 1 Vishwanathan Anand today attributed his “willingness to experiment” as the secret of his success.
The readiness to experiment enabled him adapt to all situations, Anand said delivering the ‘global leadership lecture’ organised by the Madras Management Association here.
Self-criticism was also a vital aspect in his successful run in the international arena, he said.
“It helps in taking stock of situations, not only after defeats but also during winning streak,” he said.
Further, he handled pressures in many ways, some of them including switching off the cellphone much ahead of the game schedule and not opening the e-mails.
This isolation, especially from the scribes, helped him maintain his concentration, he said.
Later, speaking to reporters, Anand said the World No 1 status came as a surprise to him.
