Kamsky is on the verge of closing in on the World Cup title. He will have White in the last game. A book by the title “My 61 Memorable Games” just surfaced on ebay.ca. No one so far can confirm if it is a real book by Fischer or it is just a hoax. The new year will start with the super Corus showdown action with most top players in the world.
It’s Saturday Open Forum. The forum is yours.
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
I think it’s a hoax for sure.
If Kamsky wins the Cup, will the American media report it in a significant way? Or will they largely ignore it?
The American media will not report it because the USCF has dropped the ball 35 years ago after Bobby Fischer. The uscf is a total mess.
Susan knows how to do it. I guess she will help chess get publicity but it will be a fraction of what could be done if chess were a professional sport as Susan wants to do it.
Go Gata Go. I was up before 5 am to watch the first move. This is very exciting for me and other chess fans.
If Gata wins this as he should there will be 4 people remaining who will become a world champion in the 2 elimination matches. Anand and Kramnik against the challenger Kamsky and Topalov.
So Gata will have one chance in 4 of becoming the World Champion. That is awesome. Of course back 12 years ago he was one of two. Karpov and Kamsky. not sure what year that was. But that was a FIDE championship not a unified championship.
he lost in 1996 and retired. from wikipidia.
In 1996, Kamsky played a 20-game match against Anatoly Karpov for the FIDE World Chess Championship 1996 title at Elista in Kalmykia, losing 7.5–10.5 (+3=9−6).

GO KAMSKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a new youtube video of the start of a recent Judit Polgar simul:
VIDEO LINK
El pasado sabado 1 de Diciembre de 2007 Judit Polgar, Gran Maestra, ofrecio una exhibicion de 24 partidas simultaneas de ajedrez en el Stadium Casablanca de Zaragoza
It was interesting to see how Judit slightly adjusted some of her pieces before each game at every one of the boards. I thought it might be the way the knights were facing, but it seemed to be more the way the Bishops were facing…and she also may have been squaring up the rooks?
Susan, is this just Judit’s habit or a perhaps good luck thing? I don’t recall you doing that at the start of your simuls?
How did Tommy (and Leeam?) Polgar-Shutzman get on at the tournament in Houston?
If you have financial questions, please send me an email with your name and contact information. My email address is SusanPolgar@aol.com. This is my personal blog and not a SPF blog.
Best wishes,

Was there a financial question being asked? I can’t see it on the blogwwdepdh
I would just like to draw readers’ attention to two well-written and perceptive chess sources on the web:
Tim Krabbe’s ‘Open Chess Diary’, and
John Saunder’s chess blog ‘BCMChess’.
These are up there with Mig.
I have decided to support these three great writers in 2008.
i adjuist sometimes my pieces before a game!
