What is that on her hands?
Yeah that was my first thought.. some kind of thin glove so skin isn’t exposed?
I was wondering the same thing; it looks like a pair of gloves with a flower pattern but made of nylon mesh material like leggings. Very cool if that what it is – if they’re tattoos, what are her parents thinking?
henna?

“Little does my opponent know I have the entire ECO scribed on my hands in code! MUAHAHAHAHAAHA!!!”
I love the way chess attracts all kinds…boys, girls, Muslims, Christians, Jews, etc. Ah…wht a better world it would be if our leaders would just settle everything over a friendly game of chess
Didnt you all watch “The Mummy”!!
Those paintings serve a good purpose.
Wow…she looks like from another planet or something!!! 😮
What a completely different culture!
Interesting….
Nice logo!! (the 2 C-s in eachother) What does that mean?
Coco Channel logo, the two interlocked C’s. The henna is a common decrative art across the middle east. I find it interesting she is wearing all black, the garb of muslim girls. I wonder how long Aushi will be allowed to play chess in public. Will she be married off by the age of 15? Her focus is most amazing.
wow @ Anonymous 9:46:00 PM.
Talk about pure ignorance. Congratulations, u reached a new level !!
The girl is from the United Arab Emirates. The country where there are Women Karate champions and Women CEOs. So, yes she is proud of her national clothes, yes she will remain playing chess and No she will not get married when she is 15.
Thank goodness the sane person who posted last sorted out the ignorance that began the thread. I teach in the UAE, where many students play chess, or take piano lessons, or just goof off like other kids in the world. In general, the Emiratis are a sophisticated people; the national dress for both men and women is elegant. Bright enough to be in the Asian Chess Championships, this girl will go on to any university in the world, with some of the best being in her own country. Perhaps one day the dense, broad sweep of ignorance by Islamophobics will project softer hues of kindness and intricacy for people across our planet and emulate the grace and tolerance of the Emiratis.
It is amazing the level of ignorance that one encounters. Obviously none of these morons have travelled to any place other than the good ole US of A.
Wait …… maybe thats a good thing as it saves the rest of us from being subjected to their brand of “intelligence”
Not all Americans are stupid. Stop putting us into one pot. I am very familiar w/ other cultures and ignorance exists in every country and not just the US.
Some of the ignorant comments are downright embarrassing since we are the most multicultural country on the planet, yet there are those who refuse to learn about cultures and customs.
Morons! Its henna – a paste extract from plants that is used for decorative purposes in Eastern cultures, especially in the Middle East and South Asia. Madonna, Gwen Stefani and other celebs have sported these in favour of permanent tattoos. Google it, wikipedia it, just stop embarrassing yourselves with your glove and alien talk. God!
Morons! Its henna – a plant extract made into a paste for semi permanent tattoos used in the Middle East and South Asia for decorative purposes on the hands and feet. Google it or wikipedia it, but stop embarrassing yourselves with all this alien and latex skin talk. Jeez!
Hey, Krishna Tide do me a favor and stop repeating the same crap. If they don’t know what henna/ mehndi is by now (since it’s been around for many, many years) they never will.
Also, your name calling is so childish. I am sure they may know things that you may not. Stop acting like your better.
