Does anyone else get the irony that at nearly 20 points lower than his peak he is finally number 1.
HERE IT IS.

Congratulations Vishy.
Victor Korchnoi born 1931 is rated #100.
May he always be included among the chess elite.
Kedves Zsuzsa!
Salátára forgattam őket, ragasztgattam a szétesett lapokat.
Kívánok további sikereket, sok-sok örömöt.
Congratulations to Anand and that is nice to see Kramnik is sharing 2nd place. Kramnik will be #1 in some months later i am sure of this.
And Topa-low 2813 in October 2006
and 2772 in April 2007 very nice fall! -41 points in such a short time what happened to someones “genius” ehh? May be someone closed the way between danailov and him!
susan do you remember when was that picture taken, I think its fairly old one, anand looks younger!!?
It was taken during the 2004 Olympiad in October 2004.
It will be nice when we celebrate people’s acheivements without regard and reminder to their ethnicity, race, religion, gender or color, since none of those factors have anything to do with a person’s success.
Hey, look who’s number 4.
A great day for Indian chess. Go Vishy, just win Mexico!
Vishy is finally where he truly belongs …
yay….vishy is no 1….
“Does anyone else get the irony that at nearly 20 points lower than his peak he is finally number 1.”
No, not really. I think you’ve misunderstood the fact that #1 is a compaative term.
What about the underling issue? The policy involved may be written so poorly that the inclusion/exclusion of tournaments is at the whim of the FIDE. The policy may be clearly written but not implemented properly. Is this being addressed?
Have member federations been complaining about the improper inclusion/exclusion of tournaments all along or has it only become an issue because it involves #1. Doesn’t #1000 deserve the same consideration as #1?
Great Job Anand !! I think it is funny that everytime I read an article about the top GM’s they always seem to say something about Moro’s “crazy” style of play. I was just wondering it must be working he is rated # 4 . Keep up the good work.
Finally! The Nice Guy is on top for once! :))) And he played a lot of fighting chess to get there.
Moro is only 24 points back, easily within striking range! Less distant from the front than the amount the front varies, so he is like right there… he could never hold it long term, he is a hot/cold type of player, but I would love to see him get it a couple times.
Congrats Vishy!
Cry topalovers.
Congratulations Anand! Finally, a nice guy finishes on top. Now, go ahead and win the Mexico to shut the critics and retire while on top.
Susan, don’t worry about Saurav’s comments. You still look young and beautiful now!
I wish the governing body of the world’s brainiest sport – FIDE, is administered by people with some brains!
congrats to vishy.
Rastamann.
Yes, drkodos, it was very nice of GM Polgar to recognize his achievment without bringing up any of that! Marvelous for Vishy. I hope he can become World Champion before he retires.
Anand was fide world champion although that was before the reunion. He can do that again.
Watch out for Morozevitch.
He is gonna be great one day.
I am not thrilled with the list.
Nobody achieve above 2800 nowadays.
Anand’s achievement is amazing…in what sport has anyone been in the Top 3 for 15 years before hitting #1? Thats unbelievable persistence and love for the game from the gentleman. Go Anand!
Vishy Vishy Vishy, he is everywhere.. what a great inspiration he has been.
