Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Kamsky, Carlsen, Shirov and Karjakin!
Heart says Carlsen-Karjakin will be the final (with Magnus winning)
Head says Kamsky-Shirov, which would be too close to call (bu Shirov has the edge)
All likely to be hard matches at this point, with luck playing a big role in any one short match.
Shirov has the highest ELO rating of those left, but I find it difficult to imagine him winning the event.
kamsky
carlsen
karjakin
shirov
( final : carlsen winning against shirov )
i would like to see a carlsen karjakin final though …
Has it ever occurred to you that Cheparinov will win the game with Carlsen?
above: okay
gee i never knew that ponomariov was an oldie!
Kamski, Cheparinov, Alekseev, Jakovenko
Sergey Karjakin…all the way baby!
Shirov is an old lion here!
Ponomariov: he is more stubborn;
Carlsen : he is stronger (by the way it would be very biased a match Cheparinov-Topalov, isn’t it?)
Karjakin: I think is is more experienced, after all.
Shirov: he is playing almost as in his heyday
Predictions like predictions, but does there remain any play able to play reasonable match against Topalov?
Maybe, maybe, maybe Shirov…
Looks like the world cup winner will be an easy cake for Bulgarian.
Yes, Ponomariov is an oldie, if you compare him and his succeeds with them by the five comets. It is more than five years ago that he became FIDE Worldchampion, against Ivanchuk.
Five years are a long time nowadays.
okay
the more comments the more time goes and it’s very late now so what is left to me is the booze …
good lock to everyone
I think Cheparinov will prevail over Carlsen.
JAKOVENKO
I would like to see Kamsky play Carlsen. Unfortunately not at this time. Better would be the final match for 1st place. But that is the luck of the draw.
I have really enjoyed watching the games. Carlsen games have probably been the most exciting for me with Kamsky games a little less exciting.
It must say a lot about youth today to see both Karjakin and Carlsen still in there.
Topalov getting a free ride into the final is outrageous. Especially since Ivanchuk had to battle it out. Topalov should have been made to battle it out.
Since the top seeds have been eliminated it makes for and easy match for Topalov. The winner here has earned his place. Topalov gets it for nothing. Injustice.
The intention in the future cycles is for the winner of this World Cup to play the winner of the Grand Prix for the right to be challenger.
That seems more fair. The 2 winners will arrive at their match from different directions and play against each other. It should be interesting and much more fair than allowing Topalov a free ride.
Gata
Carlsen

” Looks like the world cup winner will be an easy cake for Bulgarian. “
AH ! AH ! AH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ask Ivanchuk about the cake …
According to ChessBasse Carlsen has met Topalov 5 times, resulting in two wins out of two as white, and one loss and two draws as black. Also considering that Carlsen clearly is on the rise, and Topalov seems to be on the decline, I think Carlsen is the favourite in against Topalov. It will be much harder winning the knockout in Siberia. In fact i think that any winner in Khanty-Mansiysk , with the possible exception of Cheparinov will be likely to beat Topalov.
I hope that everybody here knows that Chepa’s ELO is not 2670 and actualy is 2717, and will grow up. So Carlsen is not favorite for me in his match against Cheparinov. So nothing strange i cant see in Challenger’s match Cheparinov – Topalov. And more else – I’m not sure who will be favorite in that match.
