FIDE November 2014 Rating List
2 of the top 5 players in the United States are a product of Webster University – SPICE chess program (Wesley So at #2 and Ray Robson at #5). Naroditsky, at #10, trained with the SPICE team for about a week recently.
Along with Shankland, they will be the faces of US chess for years to come.
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
No one was born in the US.
Shankland (California), Robson (Guam) and Naroditsky were (California) all born in the U.S. In case you don’t know, Guam is a U.S. territory.
US is nothing in Chess without these transplant GMs. Many GMs, IMs, WGMs, WIMs are not even citizens of US. Somehow they have US as their Federation bcos they’ve stayed here for sometime, but now live in their own countries while playing for US Federation. I wonder if Chess becomes part of Olympics, the Citizenship will become a big issue since Olympics are based on clear citizenship and not federation registration.
But you’re wrong about no US Junior born in US. There are many on the list that are US born, like Robson, Naroditsky, Troff, Chandra, Samuel, etc.
