Excellent game by GM Wesley So against GM Ian Nepomiachtchi and Daniel Vocaturo. GM So played & moved like Stockfish, very accurate, precise, took calculated risk, experimented a little, and very aggressive which is the kind of player he is. GM So taking Coach Susan advise & training seriously. Bit of advise though, I hope GM Wesley So will NOT be too complacent & overconfindent as he does in the past. He has a tendency to mellow down after a great game hope he can sustain the momentum until the end. Next match is against GM Almasi, then GM Jobava and GM Brunello. He can defeat them but he has to be aggressive because some of them may play just to draw ala FM Penchekin & GM Krush in Edmonton. If GM Wesley So wins all remaing match, it would be a plus 11.6 elo points and with his current Live Elo rating of 2,753.4 it will up his Elo Rating to 2,765 good enough for 11th place or perhaps 10th place if GM Vachier-Lgr somehow has disastrous results in the present Biel Chess Festival 2014. Im crossing my fingers GM Wesley So will win all his remaining 3 matches. Though I must admit those three are no pushovers and have the same chances of beating GM So, but I like GM So chances of winning. Wew! Great player in GM Wesley So. Thanks Madam Susan Polgar, just remind him everytime he slacks of.
He should be playing in Dortmund, along with Meier. The competition’s much stronger there. Plenty of opportunities to learn and become a stronger player.
GM Wesley So was invited to play in ACP Golden Classic first. He would have love to play in Dortmund but he had already made a prior commitment to ACP. Perhaps next year, don’t worry it will all come especially if GM So transfer to USCF will be completed ASAP as he will have an opporunity to play in big tournaments.
So sucks! Nakamura rules. No matter what happens, he will never replace Nakamura as the top US player. He is just another pretender. Go Naka! Go!
Nakamura, are you scared now? Now I get it why you don’t want Wesley joining the USCF. You know your idol will lose against Wesley. Hahaha
