The 70th Azerbaijan Chess Championship 2015 for men took place from 6th to 15th January. The event was a 9-round Swiss tournament with 22 participants and tempo of play 90′/40 + 30′ + 30″.
GM Rauf Mamedov, GM Eltaj Safarli and GM Vasif Durarbayli shared the first place with 6.5/9 points each, but Mamedov prevailed on a superior tie-break score and took the trophy.
Safarli remained second, while Durarbayli was third.
