This picture came from Xie Jun’s website
Legendary Olympic and Women’s World Champion Xie Jun playing chess against an elementary student. For those of you who read Chinese, here is her blog.
Olympic and Women’s World Champion Xu Yuhua also has her own blog here.
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
It is really a pity Xie Jun does not come to the US to live and promote chess. Has anyone invited her from USCF?
Susan, I like your blog more.
For at least three reasons:
1. It’s in english, a language, that even the Chinese speak.
2. You have family and tournament photos, from time to time.
3. You follow chess events faster than the organizers themselves.
4. You obviuosly care for US chess.
That lucky kid is getting one great lesson by playing her.
Memory lane.
Calvia 2004 (ol, w), after 7 rounds.
USA (w) 7th place, trailing leader China by five points (!). Total 13,5 points.
Turin 2006:
USA (w) 3rd place, trailing Russia by two points. Total: 15,5 points.
Conclusion: GO USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, so, where can I apply to be the new US (men) Captain? Is there an auction?
I was fortunate enough to meet and speak with Xie Jun years ago at a tournament in San Francisco. She does speak English and was very nice. I also met another fine and friendly player there named Sofia Polgar–you also may have heard of her before! (lol) Here was their game there:

Go USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sofia Polgar is inactive, meaning she doesn’t really play FIDE chess any more.
No play, no promote, she’s chess history now only.
The Kosintseva sisters are the ones to follow now.
Is Xie Jun married or single?
I heard in China Xie Jun had to pay a lot of percentage to her Federation, from the money prizes she had won. Is this a rumor or a truth?
Why on earth would Xie Jun want to live in the US? Considering the low status of chess and the poverty of chess professionals.
“Why on earth would Xie Jun want to live in the US?”
I am sure a Chinese superstar like Xie Jun would become a millionaire in the US after five years only. If she came when she was World Champion, even sooner.
