Misimatt- No. On 3. h3 Black has 3…Qe4, when White probably has nothing better than perpetual check starting with 4. Rc8+. Better is 1. Rxh7+! Qxh7 2. Qxb8+ Qg8 (otherwise White gets a nice initiative starting with 3. Rxb2, threatening 4. Rb7+) 3. Rxb2 and White gains a decisive material advantage.
1. e6! (clears the path to Qd4+)…c5 2. Qxc5 Qg4 3. h3 and black can give up.

David,
after 1. Rxh7+, what prevents Black from taking with the Bishop?
1 … Bxh7
Instead, as misimatt said,
1. e6 c5
2. Qxc5 Qg4
3. h3 Qe4
4. Rc8+ with strong mating attack
Hi david,
4. Rc8+ Rxc8 5. Qxc8+ Kg7 6. Rf1 and what else?
So, giuseppe is right.
Cheers.
i do not see any “thunder storm” at all – simply:
1.Qf2! and black will loose a piece or gettin’ mated
1.qf2 bxb8?? (or any other move not to protect f6)
2.qf6+ qg7
3.qxg7#
1… rf8
2.qxc2 …
1…qf8
2.qxc2 and the knight on b2 lives in a danger
1…qg5
2.rxb2! rxb2
3.qf8+ qg8
4.qf6+ qg7
5.qxg7#
so 1.qf2!! and the mess went over to black .. if i’m right … 🙂
yours, Vohaul
Hi Vohaul,
you overlooked 1…Qd8.
Cheers.
sorry – i forgot to mention the line
1.qf2 qd8
2.rf7 kg7
3.qf6 qf8 (forced)
4.rxf8+ rxf8
5.qxc2
by the way – a good reply on
1.e6 should be 1…qf8 …:) no mating attack, no nothing, but lot’s of black threats …
1. e6 Qf8 2. e7! 🙂
ok – ‘u got me! 1.e6 is the only move … :))
greetz, Vohaul
after e6, then c4… But thi is still lost. I would have given up, and gone for some fresh air:-)
Bigdad
