Starts in Ecuador IV Ibero-American Chess Championship
Quito, Apr 13 (Prensa Latina) Chess players of 21 countries participate from Friday until 23 at the IV Ibero-American Chess Championship in Ecuador, the first of its kind to be held in a country of South America. The list of players includes 24 competitors, of which 13 are Grand Masters, a record in a competition of this kind.
The rules of the contest organized in Ecuador, entitled “Ministry of Sports” establishes that each participant will play 10 games in four hexagonal, set on the basis of international titles of each competitor.
The first four group winners will qualify for the first hex to fight for the first six positions.
Among the Grand Masters invited is the Cuban Lazaro Bruzon, who has an Elo of 2,694 points and is the number two of the Latin American ranking.
