I am running a fun contest for all the chess bloggers. It can be unique, cool, rare, funky chess photos or chess artworks. Please send all entries to SusanPolgar@aol.com.
I will post the 5 finalists on this blog for everyone to vote. The deadline for submission is December 31, 2007. The final judging will be during the first week on January 2008.
The winner by the majority vote will receive $150 in chess prizes! Second place will receive $100 in chess prizes and 3rd place will receive $50 in chess prizes.
Good luck and let’s have some creative fun 🙂

Very nice.
The prizes sound exciting!
Very cool. I don’t know if I’ll have time to attempt anything worth entering at this time of year, but I look forward to seeing what everyone else does.
How about $150 in cash – I have all the superceded chess-engine software i need.

I agree. Then maybe you can afford to buy some manners.
You may object to my manners ‘uncle fester’ – how easy these personas are to invent – but my point is a serious one.
I think it is poor form to give prizes which are superceded chess-engine software when the likelihood is that the recipient, likely some child full of eager anticipation, has better software at home.
The ‘value’ point returns: one should not attribute the original nominal retail value to an item that is two years out of date.
The prize reads as follows: “The winner by the majority vote will receive $150 in chess prizes! Second place will receive $100 in chess prizes and 3rd place will receive $50 in chess prizes.”
Nowhere does it say that the prize will be chess-engine software. So the discussion is moot.
Could be $150 in books, could be a nice $150 chess set, or it even could be a gift certificate to allow the winner to pick and choose as they see fit.
Frankly, I think it’s most generous, not poor form at all. It’s great form, thanks Susan!
