“Sharing his knowledge?” Of what? Chess? The guy hasn’t played in a decade in any meaningful tournament. It’s like someone who has an “honory doctorate.” Yes, technically, you can call yourself “Dr.” whatever.
He’s got an IM title but gave up. I really can’t blame him, though. Making a living playing chess is virtually impossible. He did the right thing by leaving professional chess….but does he even have a college degree? If so, what subject?
I sometimes wonder what happened to his chess career. I thought he was a very strong IM back in the late 1990s, had one or two GM norms. Really nothing like an “honorary doctorate”; at this point is still probably probably playing at least at strong FIDE master level, maybe higher.

@ anonymous. This may be true, but chances are he’s still better than Dylan and has enough knowledge to teach the kid a thing or two. 😉
