It is another exciting week for chess. One more game left at Linares and 4 players can technically win it. The European Individual Championship just started yesterday in Montenegro. The Women’s Grand Prix is starting in Turkey today.
It’s Saturday Open Forum. The forum is yours. What would you like to discuss?
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Back to my favorite question: 🙂
In Linares and strong GM tournaments, why are we seeing more d4 openings rather than e4? Is there some fear that Black always has a chance to equalize and push for a win with the Sicilian systems?
Also Susan, it would be great if you could analyze Anand’s dangerous Poison pawn accepted game?
Equalize r u serious? Black is doin fine right out of the opening! Also Susan plez dont put any pressure on yourself tryin to analyze that position usin the white idea! haha and when ur ready to thow down against the Ultrastuff then i’ll Play 1e5!! and you gotta get you a move lets say 1e4 or c4 if you want to equalize as white! hahaha
I hear there is a chess tournament going on in Lubbock today.
Is this true?
@MG42: I think most 1.e4 players are not afraid of the Sicilian, but of “drawing weapons” as the Petrov and the Marshall.
At least that’s the most likely reason why Anand switched to d4 in his WCh match against Kramnik.
susan you look so lovely and sexy in that picture, wo geht´s?
i heard saying that the wmatch of anand was a boring one, but i dont think so!, game two was so good, and to kramnik he didnt play boring chess (dont share all the way the concept), the proof is that the games he loost was that he played like toplavol deoes!
who do you think will win in this years world championship match? if anand win no one alive will be able to sya hes not the champion, even if topalov teaches a 3000 elo!
bye

I thought the big Euro event in The-City-Formerly-Known-as-Leningrad started yesterday. But I can’t find results anywhere, including the official website. Or even a schedule of rounds.
