Shirov, Giri, and Robson are on fire at Corus (A, B and C groups).
H. Nakamura, M. Carlsen, V. Ivanchuk, V. Kramnik are a full 1.5 point behind Shirov. Giri has a full point lead in his section while Robson is 1/2 point ahead of Chao.
The second half of Corus will be full of excitement.

Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
The upcoming Anand-Topalov world championship match will be 12 games.
From post-World War II to the early 1990’s, the standard WC match was 24 games, but the number of games has continually dropped since then.
What is the ideal number of games for a WC match?
fide has consistanly attempted to disrespect persons of African descent, like this Haiti castastrophe, how bad should their top guys be crushed Susan? I mean they really struglling with one lil knight move, i thought they suppose to know it all, what happened Susan ?
Bizarre that someone links the earthquake in Haiti to FIDE.
Hmmm Lets discuss the settled lawsuit!
The USCF has to pay Polgar / Truong nearly $40,000 in addition to spending more than $750,000 of members’ money for legal fees. All members should demand Goichberg, Hough, Berry, and Bauer to pay back their money.

Susan Polgar Wins!!!
Paul Truong is innocent!!!
Long Live Chess!!!
“Indications from the USCF’s Forums that the settlement involved cash payments to Susan Polgar. Amid all of the spin that has come from that place, money talks loudest.” — Jack Lemoine
Frankly, I find that difficult to believe.
If Karpov and Kasparov played their first WC title match in this day and age of 12-game matches, Karpov would be World Champion for longer than he was.
He cleaned up Kasparov 5-0 in the first nine games of their World Championship match, then became exhausted, began to draw, then began to lose.
Poor Karpov. Today he is a patzer GM
All hail Susan and Paul!! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Susan and Paul, I hope that in the future you will found your own national chess federation — you should have done that rather than run for the USCF board.
With your expertise in chess organizing and public relations, and the incredible energy shown in constantly updating this blog, you could do incredible things!
Maintaining the rating system could be a project for Texas Tech math grad students.
Congratulations and many thanks for all you have done for the chess world!
egads! Kramnik just missed a forced draw (61. … Qxf4+ and 62. … g5+).
Okay, he found another one. Whew.
you`re so beautiful, sorry but i couldn`t hold myself from telling you this. sorry because i`m oftopic.
Lots of chess law suits and chess allegations, from Kasparov vs. FIDE, to Topalov vs. Kramnik, and all sorts.
It is time to have a court exclusively for resolving chess disputes. World Chess Court. And I say we put Korchnoi and Karpov on the jury.
“He cleaned up Kasparov 5-0 in the first nine games of their World Championship match”
Don’t exaggerate.
I am glad the bulk of the litigation has been settled. Many people can now get on with their lives without this ‘Sword of Damocles’ dangling over their heads. Time will tell who have come out ‘winners.’ I have my own private opinions as to that.
The era of Mr. Goichberg as President of the USCF is at an end. There is an upcoming election for two seats on the USCF Executive Board. I urge all members to vote for Sam Sloan. I think the USCF deserves Mr. Sloan, and Mr. Sloan deserves the USCF.

Korchnoi and Karpov on the jury for resolving chess disputes. LOL.
Click on afrodisiac’s name and you’ll find that his comment is a spam ad.
I agree with Jan. The USCF and the delegates deserve Sam Sloan.
Jan’s comment would be LOL if it weren’t so sadly true.
The USCF website is not hailing it as Susan win, actually it reads as if the won everything. Can someone explain what all this means? So this means Susan is completely out? Where does Susan get compensation.
We the Munoz family are strong supporters of Susan and have stood up for her publicly on both of our blogsÑ
http://www.claudiachess.blogspot.com,
http://www.chesscampeona.blogspot.com,
I read here that USCF has to pay Susan, but they dont say that. Just that her attorneys will be paid by the insurance.
What´s next Susan?
“‘He cleaned up Kasparov 5-0 in the first nine games of their World Championship match.’ Don’t exaggerate.”
Um, that is exactly true and not an exaggeration. The WC scores five wins and four draws against the WC challenger is cleaning up. What else would you call it?
We all know that many, many draws and some losses by Karpov and the cancellation of the match later happened.
I think that calling Karpov a patzer GM, as another poster did, is quite harsh and untrue, even if after many years his playing strength has understandably declined.
/The upcoming Anand-Topalov world championship match will be 12 games./
This is still too many. One game ought to suffice, challenger gets black, champ gets white. In the event of a draw the champion retains title.
They should play the championship every year on January 1st, with the challenger selected from the top of rating list.
If the champion is the challenger then no game gets played.
“And I say we put Korchnoi and Karpov on the jury.”
This will be the irst time and last time you put me in the chess jury, for the rest of your life! Ja!!!
“(paraphrase)The World Championship should be a one-game contest played on January 1 of each year.”
Everyone’s a comedian.
On the other hand, a cogent satire of those who permit a WC match with such a small number games as 12.
Money talks and the USCF/their insurance company paid Polgar/Truong. This means that Polgar/Truong won and the USCF lost. All the spins won’t ever change this fact.
