We have an exciting finish at Corus. Anand has a winning position against Kramnik. If he can convert, Carlsen will be leading Shirov and Kramnik by 1/2 point going into the final round tomorrow. Giri and Chao have commanding lead in group B and C.
There are a 10 way tie for the lead in Gibraltar after 4 rounds.

Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
I’m rooting for Carlsen.
When I look Anand-Kramnik, Anand-Shirov, I start wondering if even at their level, do these players play the board or play the opponents.
To elaborate my point, given the form Shirov/Kramnik and Anand were displaying, on current form, Shirov and Kramnik should have given Anand a Better fight!!
Susan what is your take on this ?
Well, Shirov missed the win in his game against Anand, and ended up losing.
Kramnik just lost.
Susan: A question:
At what point in Anand/Kramnik did you post that Anand had a winning position? He won (finally, a world champion’s result) against an incredible opponent. When did you see the win as possible or likely?
I do question Kramnik’s 40th move in his game against Anand. It looks like a blunder to my amateur eye. Now, the passed pawns may have won the game anyway, but didn’t Kramnik miss a perpetual check possibility by not playing 40. ….Qh6?
Oh, now I see it. Never mind. I missed 41. Qf3.
Really, when Anand played the exchange sacrifice, did he clearly see the final position that arises more than 10 moves later?
The older I become, I root more to the older players than to the young men. I wish Anand and Kramnik many more years on the top, then Aronian’s and Grischuk’s turns are actual, and after that Carlsen, Karjakin and so on. So, Giri and whoever may follow got twenty years to work and wait before them.
Everything in its order, please! 😉
okay
