It is Saturday Open Forum. The World Championship just started 2 days ago. The major match up between #1 Anand and #2 Kramnik is today in round 3. The LIVE broadcast seems to be working fine. I will be in Mexico City next week to help out the organizer.
The brand new www.ChessDiscussion.com forum has been launched with a lot of sucess. A lot of awesome features have been added and we will continue to improve it all the time.
I am sure the focus will be on the World Championship. But what else would you like to discuss? It is Saturday Open Forum. The forum is yours!
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
I’m curious about the most strange, but still playable, opening you ever saw!
For me, it is this:
1. h4 d5 2. h5 e5 3. h6
But also amazing is this:
1. Nc3 Nf6 2. e4 e5 3. Nf3 Nc6 4. Nxe5 Nxe5 5. d4
What do you think about that?
Lets discuss strange openings! 🙂
Best wishes,
Beco
I am looking for an active forum for chess teachers who teach chess to beginners – kids age 5+. I have the SPF chess training program for teachers – It is a great program, but sometimes I need to clarify a matter and I don’t have where to do it. I tried using chessdiscussions.com but no one replied to my questions. What to do?
Susan I love the new Chess Discussion. Everyone is no nice there. and the discussion is really good about chess.
I am so sick of the USCF Forums. I will just not say anything.
I really hope the new Chess Discussion becomes very successful. I feel so comfortable there. I feel like I am among friends.
I have decided as some other people have said that Anand wins Mexico and plays Kramnik in a match afterwards. I believe as others have said that it will be good for chess. If there is another Topalov match and it turns into another story like the last one it will be terrible for chess.
Today Anand plays Kramnik in a mini one game or two for the World Championship. It is important that the champion wins against the best challenger. So this is a most important game today. I do not want to see two quick draws between these two and then determine the winner on playing other people.
We really have to sit these two down to a series of games for the title. That will bring excitement to chess. Anand deserves an opportunity to play for the title.
Susan when you go to Mexico next week find out what people are saying about this.
Susan,
I read your blog regulary. Some time ago you was capagning to get elected to the boarder of the American chessorganisation and even if its not my busness (im not american) I was nevertheless involved emotionally and was excited when you and your friends was elected.
What has happend after that? Have you nothing to report? I think you should report alittle about what is going on inside the US chessorganisation. Didnt you plan some reforms or something? I know it isnt my busness, but i am curious nevertheless
Can someone tell me what time the Anand-Kramnik match is (it is today, isn’t it)? I’m in Utah (Mountain Standard Time), but I can figure out the time difference if I know what time zone it’s in and what time it starts. Thanks!

I am 200% behind this: but I am looking for some positive initiatives from the USCF president on this. Tell us what you need from us (the generlal chess playing public) to make this happen.

egaion, try the Chessville forum at http://forums.delphiforums.com/chessville/start/. Chessville’s primary focus is on improvement and instruction, and there are several members of this forum that are teachers, so you should get a lot of feedback.
Who introduced the particular pawn move in this variation (link)?
Was it Blackburne Hastings 1895?
Or was it Pillsbury Paris 1900?
