What are your predictions? Will we see fireworks tomorrow?
I will be doing the LIVE commentary on ICC Chess.FM tomorrow. It will be open to all to listen.
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
4 draws. This tournament is over.
Yeah. I’d like to see Susan do a story on the new top rated player, Vishy Anand. As of now, he’s clinched a spot at the list, and he certainly deserves it for as long as he’s been in there fighting for it.
A match between #1 Anand and the World Champion Kramnik would be the best thing that could happen to chess right now.
IVANCHUK will try,
ANAND will laugh,
LEKO will cry,
MAGNUS will hand him a hankerchief,
SVIDLER will go to play cricket,
MOROZEVICH will stop acusing Topa of using a computer,
TOPALOV will have to learn how to play with out computer assistance,
ARONIAN will try to catch wonderboy
Sorry…
TOPALOV will have to learn how to play with out manager’s assistance
Will Anand get to be #1 even when he droped some points in Corus?
Ain’t Kramnik playing a tour right know and probably collecting points? The race still’s going on but, I would like to se either Kramnik or Anand as #1 and moreover a Match between them for the crown. That’d be great !!
Four short draws, it is the usual in these tournaments from recent experience
Anand will be no 1 irrespective of last rounds results. infact, if topalov loses last round, he slips to no 3 spot, 1 point below Kramnik.
Sorry, of the last post, I did not consider Kramnik’s peformance in the Dutch league if its FIDE rated. In that cases, its not clear who takes 2nd and 3rd spots.
I think it would be nice if someone posted the daily ratings on the internet like they do with baseball.
Hello,
I hope Vesko will fight. I am not his fan neither Kramnik. I think that Vesko has to broke the media (4th power) stress and show them that they are not masters of the world. It is difficult to play when you are watched by ‘paparazzi’ and searched by police(somebody had provked that) but You must be strong enough ! To fight against Imperia you have to have power.
GO VESKO. You are fighting not only for Yourself but for independency of the chessplayers. Media and politics shall not decide who is no 1.
Regards
Pony.
Do you really think that , in spain, the “paparazzi” or the police care about Topalov or any other chess player?
LOL.
I doubt why should carlsen not fight it out…….. and ivanchuk is anyways unpredictable…….. so the top two boards have every reason to be exciting……… so do the bottom two have to be dull!!
Where can we follow Susans commentary ?
I do not think that it will be all draws – at least no short draws. As Carslen will fight to clinch 1st place and Moro too – the latter has been playing good and creative chess; so i think it will be an interesting last round.
Now that topa lost the number one spot – I do not know which right he will have to argue on a rematch against kramnik.
The saga continues?
I hope Leko wins. I am not usually one of his fans, but seeing one of the most stable players lose 3 games is too much for me. And I hope Morozevich wins again. When in form, he provides the best entertainment.

I can imagine that Carlsen will try to win over Leko, which is a “psychological good shot”, pulling at least even with Anand at the first place. Anand knowing that possibility, quite likely will try to win over Ivanchuk, but carefully, make sure that the draw is available, just in case if Carlsen wins.
I wouldn’t be surprised if even Svidler made a valian effort to win, although less likely. Topalov-Aronian: quite possibly a draw before the 16th move 🙂
Ivanchuk 1/2-1/2 Anand
Leko 0-1 Carlsen
Svidler 1/2-1/2 Morozevich
Topalov 1-0 Aronian
1. Anand 8.5
2. Carlsen 8.5
3. Svidler, Peter 7.5
4. Morozevich 7.0
5 Aronian 6.5
6. Ivanchuk 6.5
7. Topalov 6.5
8. Leko 5.0
Do you know what the tiebreaks are ? do you know how the money will be shared ? e.g if Anand draws and Carlsen wins ? if Anand loses, Carlsen draws and Svidler wins ?

No, it’s clear. If Topalov draws today, he and Kramnik will both be rated 2772. If Topalov loses, he’ll fall below Kramnik. If he wins, he stays ahead. But in all scenarios, Anand finishes this tournament rated higher than Topalov.
