Le – Nakamura 1/2-1/2
This game started out exciting, but turned into a draw by repetition. Too bad.
Ponomariov– Giri 1-0
A very impressive win by the Ukrainian. Not without some inaccuracies, but good game nevertheless.
Meier– Kramnik 0-1
This was a very interesting struggle. Very exciting. Meier built up a strong advantage in a very complicated position where he HAD TO PRESS ON. But he didn’t. He pulled back his advanced pieces, and lost his way in the complications. Kramnik took full advantage of that. An excruciating game for those of us who are not Kramnik fans.
Lucymarie
good analysis Lucymarie, I agree
what strikes me most is Kramnik taking serious risks… (?!!)
he gave his oppenent a decent chance in both games in order to play for a win – that’s not the “old Petroff Kramnik” and I have to admit: i like the new one 🙂
It’s easy to forget just how good a tactical player Kramnik is. He’s played two good games and is looking good in this tournament.
