Why is Fritz in this event?
I’m sure sales for the “Junior” program will go up after this event. It is no doubt better than Fritz. However, virtually everyone who knows anything about computer chess software knows that the newest version of RYBKA is the strongest progrom (by far) on the market.
Moreover, has FIDE answered the challenge/offer that the author of RYBKA issued?
Just wondering if anyone out there might have heard anything?
Sorry to say it, but these matchups are ridiculous! Did u read the hardware specifics? Junior is TWICE the nodes/sec!!!!
These kinda matches should be on equal hardware! Otherwise it’s just ridiculous.
And btw: since Rybka isn’t playing it are not the strongest computers anyway…
lol 😀
coz rybka doesn’t need such marketing ploy?
Actually, it’s now 3.5-1.5 after a draw was agreed in Game 5.
Actually, I think the JUNIOR team accepted a draw as this gave them the match.
In fact, it appears after playing 15 moves on CRAFTY that JUNIOR wins a KRPPKBNP endgame: the bN is dominated, the bB covers only half the squares so the wR does the business. Other views welcome.

Its hard to believe fritz can lose so easily given it defeated the World Champ!
And that world champ threw away a free game to his opponent to win the title!
The reign of humans is over!
Is the Rybka sales department spamming this site?
It’s just a proven fact that Rybka is by far the best chesscomputer!
All-time best chess computers:
1. The Human Brain
2. Deep Blue (the legend)
3. Crafty (the legend for those who aren’t hypnotized by fritz/junior/rybka marketing)
The only commercial product that one can consider buying is Pocket Fritz-for cheating reasons
i am so tired..
susan what is your opinion about rybka
Reigin computer chess world champion is Junior, not Rybka.
None of these programs are as strong as Kasparov (living legend)

Man you’re missing the point :
Champ is a champ .
Computer or Human one,doesn’t matter.
Why do you think Kramnik was called World Champion when Kasparov was still higher rated than him?
Actually I think you’re the one missing the point. Is it better to be the “champ” in some statistically meaningless contest or is it better to be the highest rated by far? When Kramnik was champ and Kasparov was the still active ex-champ with a 50 elo lead over Kramnik who was considered the strongest chess player in the world?
Computers need MANY games to determine which is better because unlike humans they don’t blunder or get tired. Rybka has a much higher elo than either Fritz or Junior. That is the only contest that really counts for computers. A “championship” for chess engines should be played on the same hardware and include a statistically meaningful number of games. I use Rybka to analyze games, it’s best at that because of its high elo, a meaningless title will not make Junior into a better analysis tool.
