Four draws
My main interest is Aronian. I have an intuitive feeling that he is not ready for this lion , Shirov. May be I am undervaluing Aronian. At any case, I am very excited and I shall watch the game intensely.
Aronian will sweat today!
Hi Susan. Quicknote, you have the Shirov-Aronian game the wrong way round. Shirov is white in game 4. Thank you for nice coverage of the event.
Aronian, Leko, Grischuk all leading and black in Game 4, and the stronger player. Therefore I predict draws here.
Kamsky, as usual, is unpredicable. However, Gelfand is white, so should hold. So draw the most likely result.
Kamsky’s performance in Game 3 was truly atrocious. How could he spend 25 minutes on move 5 and leave himself with 3 minutes for 19 moves?? Truly weird.
I picked Kamsky to take this match, but now have to go with Gelfand. Pity, because Gelfand will make no impression in Mexico, whereas Kamsky would have the potential to scare something up.
But with only one white left, Kamsky’s situation is dire. Kamsky had 3 extra rest days over Gelfand, but they don’t seem to have done him any good at all.
They had started.
Aronian played the Ruy lopez against Shirov’s e4.
Aronian’s play is like a boiling water, restless. unquiet. I am worried. Shirov is a slow and dangerous bear
Shirov is losing after Aronian makes a good pin.
With Carlsen and Judith out of the equation I really don’t have any “gods” left! So really, I don’t have a favourite anymore!
Why didn’t Bareev play 47. a7 ?
