that Rh5 move was bad. she just counter attacked with Rc5. then his f4 move was equally bad . she just discovered checked him. he should have just taken her knight with Rxe5. cut your losses and dont counter attack her after you make a horrendous move. to say she destroyed him is way over board. she was opportunistic and took advantage of a clearly bad move. i saw nothing that impresses me. i know some feminists on here are going to slam be but i dont care.
I thought “super GM” was 2700+ these days. Twenty years ago, 2600+ would be good enough for Super-GM status, but nowadays…?
Kids these days. Hmph! 😉
(And congratulations to Irina!)
I think Super-GM for Dreev is due to his past succeses, as former World Championship Candidate (he lost to Anand) and I think the only twice winner of the World Cadet Championship and winner of a lot of tournaments in mid-ninetith, among them I think Weik-an-See,
but on the other way Portish has much more credentials, than Dreev, but he is not Super-GM, he is a living legend of the Gold Age of Chess,
and good luck to Irina we all hope she could make a GM norm here.
Impressive game by Irina!!!
( btw.. can someone please explain the Nxc4 move by Dreev. does it have any purpose? )
how come the chess board that is shown with this post looks nothing like the final position of the game viewed with “click here” link??
I hope Irina will get her final GM norm in this tournament! Way to go!
