NEW DELHI: Grandmaster P. Hari Krishna ended a long title-drought by winning the Chigorin memorial blitz chess tournament at St. Petersburg, Russia, on Sunday.
Hari tallied 16.5 points from 22 five-minute games spread over 11 rounds in the one-day competition.
Seeded two, Hari finished one-point clear of Armenian Hrant Melkumyan, Russians Nikolai Chadaev and Konstantin Sakaev at 15.5 points.
In a 136-player field, Parimarjan Negi finished 38th with 12.5 points, Sandipan Chanda was 51st with 11.5 points, a tally matched by young Vidit Gujarathi, who settled for the 61st spot.
