UTB A and UTD A are the first teams to finish the final round. All games were drawn very quickly. In the mean time, even though UMBC are leading and only need a draw to win the PanAm, they are going all out for the match win. Texas Tech also needs only a draw to make the final four but our players are fighting all the way. This is the first time Texas Tech sends an A team to the PanAm.

Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Susan i’ve a ? Did white play e4 before drawing like the traditionalist normally do or was it lets say 1e4 – e5 draw? and What happened to the Ashley Rule – The Negro Chess?
Are those the final positions?
Ashley Rule – The Negro Chess
AKA the Kuntakinte Gambit.
Serious request, please:
a] Does anyone know of any Grand Master losses when a GM does not want to argue with the Tournament Director about a draw and deliberately leaves his Queen en prise or deliberately walks into a mating net? Just to get finished with a tournament.
b] Does anyone know of any Grand Master games when two GMs want to deliberately lose at the same time? Like if you win you will face Kasparov or Tal in the next round but if you lose you get someone easier? Maybe both GMs leave their Queens en prise? But both don’t want to take it, so they deliberately walk into a mating net of the other, but the opponent does everything possible to avoid checkmating and tries to lose as much material as possible?
If you know of any such games, (possibly in chessgames.com) please leave the links in a reply.
Thanks
PS Does anyone have the link to the game where the GM was drunk and fell asleep?
And chess wonders why it is not taken seriously as a sport when it has crap like this. Showpiece match of a tournament, final round and all the players show is how to pack up early and go home.
Weak as piss and we I see stuff like this it is no wonder chess struggles.
Could you imagine a tv company televising chess, they pump up the final round match, and the players decide to agree draws straight away?
Nice advertisement for chess, Not.
I really would love to see Susan try and defend behaviour like this without use of the ‘oh its legal, so that makes it ok’ type lines.
What a disgrace!!!!!!!
Texas Tech team fought all the way until the end. They were the last top team to finish the final round. All the needed was a tie to make the final four but they fought hard and won the match 3.5 – .5.
Garvin should read the post and not jump to conclusions. The post reported that two leading teams quickly drew all of their games, and that two other leading teams were playing all out for the win.
Susan is coaching one of the two fighting teams. She is neither the tournament organizer nor tournament director, so she cannot be responsible for the actions of the two quick drawing teams.
Garvin, what makes you think Susan is defending or would defend the drawing teams? The fact that she is coaching a team going all out for the win indicates the opposite.
Lionel Davis’ usual gibberish leads to comments like Anon 2:36 PM.
Felicitations to TEXAS TECH! They are my local team from West Texas!
Good point Garvin! Yo anon i like that one,The Kuntakinte Gambit thanks i think ill use that!!! Susan this is gettin funner! hehehe.
