Damn! Took me while to find the right continuation after the double check with Nh6:
1. Nh6 Kh8 (Kh7 2.Qb2+-)
And, here, though I had seen Qg8, I failed to appreciate the maneuver Nf7 and Ng5- I completely missed the combo Rh6 and Rh7# at the end of it. After fumbling around for about 10 minutes with other alternatives, it finally dawned on me.
Black moves the Queen out of harm’s way so the Bishop can capture the Rook, while guarding b2 and c3 against White’s Queen checks. Nothing else is any good, either.
2 Kh2 Rfe8
If 2…Bxh6 3 Nxh6+, and Black can stall mate by the Rook at h7 for a couple of moves by giving up the Queen and Rook.
3 Rh8+ Bxh8 4 Nh6++ Kf8 5 Qf7#
The other way, which is prettier and more direct, is this:
1 Nh6++! Kh8
1… Kh7, 2 Qxb2 will also mate quickly, as Black can’t recapture White’s Queen.
2 Qg8+!!
White gives up the Queen in order to take g8 away from Black’s King.
2… Rxg8 3 Nf7+ Kh2 4 Ng5+ Kh1
Now White clears the Bishop away from the second rank so that the other Rook can do its job.
1. Nh6++ Kh8 2. Qg8+ Rxg8 3. Nf7+ Kh7 4. Ng5+ Kh8 5. Rh6+ Bxh6 6. Rh6# *Wow… Fantastic… White WON although had only one rook and one knight – high skill from MR KO ( KNOCKOUT2010 )
I found Rh6 right away, and it seems to be decisive. Looking at the comments afterwards, it looks like Nh6 with the double-check also works, making this an interesting problem, with two unique solutions.
Nh6+
1.Nh6++ Kh7 (loses queen)
1. … Kh8 (mate in 5) 2.Qg8+ Rxg8 3.Nf7+ Kh7 4.Ng5+ Kh8 5.Rh6+ Bxh6 6.Rh7#
Nice one…

found it !
i find it. It’s an amazing combination !

2. Qg8 Rg8
3. Nf7 Kh7
4. Ng5 Kh8
5. Rh6 Bh6
6. Rh7#
1.Rh6!! threatening 2.Rh8 check! Kxh8 3.Nh6 mate!
Checking with the queen only brings relief to White, so that leaves two kinds iof defence: removing the rook or removing the bishop
1….Bc3 2.Qe6!+- comes with added strength or 1…Rc8 2.Rh8+ Bxh8 3.Nh6++ Kf8 4.Qf7 mate ! and I almost forgot 1…Bxh6 2.QxQ!+-
1. Nh6+ Kh8
2. Qg8+ Rxg8
3. Nf7+ Kh7
4. Ng5+ Kh8
5. Rh6+ Bxh6
6. Rh7#
In move 1, black cannot move Kh7 since it will lose the queen immediately.
Does this work (I’ll be so chuffed if it does)?
1. Nh6+ Kh8
2. Qg8+ RxQ
3. Nf7+ Kh7
4. Ng5+ Kh8
5. Rh6+ BxR
6. Rh7 mate
There seems to be 2 solutions: Nh6+ and Rh6.
White can mate in two ways:
1 Rh6
With the threat of 2 Rh8+ Bxh8, 3 Nh6#
1… Qc1+
Black moves the Queen out of harm’s way so the Bishop can capture the Rook, while guarding b2 and c3 against White’s Queen checks. Nothing else is any good, either.
2 Kh2 Rfe8
If 2…Bxh6 3 Nxh6+, and Black can stall mate by the Rook at h7 for a couple of moves by giving up the Queen and Rook.
3 Rh8+ Bxh8
4 Nh6++ Kf8
5 Qf7#
The other way, which is prettier and more direct, is this:
1 Nh6++! Kh8
1… Kh7, 2 Qxb2 will also mate quickly, as Black can’t recapture White’s Queen.
2 Qg8+!!
White gives up the Queen in order to take g8 away from Black’s King.
2… Rxg8
3 Nf7+ Kh2
4 Ng5+ Kh1
Now White clears the Bishop away from the second rank so that the other Rook can do its job.
5 Rh6+! Bxh6
6 Rh7#
1.Nh6+ Kh8 (1…Kh7 2.Qxb2) 2.Qg8+!! Rxg8 3.Nf7+ Kh7 4.Ng5+ Kh8 5.Rh6+ Bxh6 6.Rh7 ++
1.Nh6+ Kh8 (1…Kh7 2.Qxb2) 2.Qg8+!! Rxg8 3.Nf7+ Kh7 4.Ng5+ Kh8 5.Rh6+ Bxh6 6.Rh7 ++
1. Nh6++ Kh8 2. Qg8+ Rxg8 3. Nf7+ Kh7 4. Ng5+ Kh8 5. Rh6+ Bxh6 6. Rh6# *Wow… Fantastic… White WON although had only one rook and one knight – high skill from MR KO ( KNOCKOUT2010 )
