What does “FIDE rated” mean ?
Does it have to be titled players or even one FIDE rated at 1500 elo?
Susan, how familiar are you with Oklahoma Chess Politics? I’m reminded of a statement of yours from earlier:
This kind of dirty and destructive chess politics have been going on for a long time. It is not going to change by itself. The level of hatred and animosity is way too much. That is why I decided to do something to fix it. I know people from all political parties and some truly have the best interest of the USCF at heart. Unfortunately, not all of them do.
Two days ago a cuban IM was speaking in the spanish channel at Internet Chess Club about a form of chess cheating.
Sorry if I cannot remember the exact word in english for that…I will explain it anyway:
Frecuently some weak masters or strong experts cannot win the main prizes, then they use to play one championship in order to lose rating points(they resign or do stupid and not forced mistakes to do that) and the next championship, with a rating lower than their real force, they go for the prize of A class.
I think that with 600 dollars for the classes A,B and C winners these type of people can do that.
In our federation we had the same problem years ago.How we fixed it?
Now we give three prizes for each class. They are about 250,150 and 100 for the best three players and the temptation to do this type of chess cheating is less.
