Chess Training for Teachers and Coaches
There will be a Chess Coach Certification Course (Level II) for all Chess Team Coaches on Saturday and Sunday, April 21 from 9:00am to 4:00pm and 22 from 8am to 2pm, at the Central Middle School Training Center / Cafeteria, Brownsville, Texas. This course will be conducted by GM Susan Polgar, winner of 4 Women’s World Championships and FM Paul Truong, captain of the historic 2004 US Women’s Olympiad Silver Medalist Team.
The course will focus on:
How to introduce chess to the beginner players, especially children
The order and method to introduce each chess piece to make it easier to understand
How to simplify checkmating and winning techniques
How to introduce simple but important chess tactical motifs
How to motivate the children to play chess, especially girls
How chess can help children in school and in life
How teachers can incorporate chess into other classes
The importance of being a good sport in chess
The importance of clock and time-management in chess
Exclusive pattern recognition in chess and beyond
How to use chess software

In addition, each coach / participant will receive an official Susan Polgar Foundation Chess Teaching Kit which includes an official TRAINING CERTIFICATE, training material (approximately $125 value) to assist the coaches, exclusive access to additional training online as well as being able to ask questions via e-mail.
