2nd Trophy plus $1000 scholarship renewable for 4 years with 3.4 GPA
3rd Trophy plus $500 scholarship renewable for 4 years with 3.4 GPA
4th – 6th Trophies
Scholarships are applicable only to tournament winners who are admitted to and enrolled in an engineering program at the UConn School of Engineering. Scholarships are not transferable and are renewable for a maximum of 4 years. Students are limited to 1 scholarship in the School of Engineering. Prior winners are eligible to upgrade only, prior 1st prize winners are eligible for trophy
only. Top boards will be webcast live on ICC.
MIDDLE SCHOOL OPEN: Open to all in grades 6-8.
Entry fee: $35, $40 after 10/24/07.
PRIZES: Trophies to top 3 overall, top 3 grade 7, top 3 grade 6
BOTH: 5-SS, G/60. 1/2 point byes available in rounds 1-4 only with 1 hour advance notice, no last round byes.
REGISTRATION: 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM
ROUND TIMES: Saturday 10-1-4, Sunday 9-12.

Are the chess scholarships awarded at SP events conditional on the students being admitted to, i.e. ‘good enough’ for, their chosen courses – or do they include automatic admission to the relevant school?
