This happens too often in chess. One player fails to convert a win, and his opponent comes back the next game to haunt him. That is exactly what happened in this match. Leko squeezed out a winning endgame due to some inaccuracies by Carlsen. Unfortunately, he failed to convert. In the following game, Carlsen capitalized on his chances and scores the first win of the match.

Neither will ever be the wcc. both put together cannot defeat Rybka in a non-handicapped match.
To report as if either of these young men will ever be but a “super GM,” then as age progresses, a “GM, and then just a memory….if they’re lucky…is a dream that will never come true.
Carlsen has yet to reach puberty…I’d bet. He’s rather strange in his lack of attention in females. Well, perhaps he likes men. So be it. He will never be the world champion and neither will his opponent.
I can’t see why such people don’t do something better with their lives…go into medicine and save lives….be an engineer and create something extraordinary with your so callled “genius.”
These guys are no “geniuses” and waste their time with a game. History will forget them. All the better. They dedicate their time and study to a game. Why not something that will better humanity?
My answer: Idiots. They cannot do anything else. Take the 64 squares away and they are as helpless as a 1 year old child.
It’s truly sad. So sad. And pathetic.
They are both a joke and all chess GM’s a joke outside of their little world of a mere game.
Truly sad.
and pathetic.
And…since this will probably cause little minds to respond I let it be known now that I will neither respond or even read additional posts.
You all need to get a life.
“truly sad and pathetic.” you must be talking about your little mind and life 😉
“He’s rather strange in his lack of attention in females.”
Hmm, so you tried to make a move on him, which he declined, and you are somewhat dissapointed?
Anyways, great first ever win against Leko today. I’m guessing he will winn the whole match.
“Carlsen has yet to reach puberty…I’d bet. “
A very insightful comment on today’s games you’ve got there. Do you have any more on-topic chess analyses you’d like to share?
“These guys are no “geniuses” “
Carlsen didn’t become a GM until he was 13, so he can’t possibly be a genius…
“and waste their time with a game.”
How about soccer players, baseball or basketball stars? They’re only ‘wasting’ their time throwing or kicking balls.
OK, I started answering the first anonymous, but then found out I wouldn’t waste time on such an retard. I won’t sink down to that level. Period.
Great win by Magnus today!

Recently I learned the Internet slang term ‘troll’, and now Anon 1:28 gives me the perfect example. To make Leko and Carlsen his targets, both of whom have a certain personal nobility, makes him an unusually ugly troll.

I really like that first comment! hahahahaha. Super.
Just one adjustment perhaps: why save lives by studying medicine? What lives? Is it worth it? hahahaha. Good stuff.
I admit the original poster made a good point, namely that chess players don’t accomplish much in the world apart from the narrow constraints of the chess community. People need doctors and even financial advisors, but not pro chessplayers. Neither are sportsmen needed much either–the only reason they and professional chessplayers exist at all is that they are in show buisness, the entertainment game, and without fans they’d be doing their thing as a hobby. So appreciate us gentlemen!
Please, someone give Carlsen a decent haircut!
To 1st anonymous:
Hey, if Magnus likes men, you may still have a chance, you cute boy! 😛
Even if the point you tried to make about geniuses could be something for nice discussion, insults from a person who likes to remain anonymous are “non-existent” insults.
The first anonymous writter doesn’t like chess, obviously. He is unpolite too. Pitty for him.
We need doctors, of course. But in the same way that we need music, novels, sportsgames and other hobbies/mental stimulations, we also need GM players like Carlsen and Leko. They act as ambassadors of chess. Chess is a vital leausure activity for millions of people. Chess stimulates your brain. Chess is beeing played whatever religoin, nation or language. Take your time to read what GM Susan Polgar (yes, she is also a Grand Master “wasting her time”) is writing on this very website. You will be surprised how beneficiary chess can be, both for personal development and society.
BIG THANKS to Susan, Carlsen, Leko and all other chess personalities for their conttributions to chess. Highly appreciated. You are important to me.
(Sorry for any misspellings. English is not my native language.)
Semiotics is the science of symbols as opposed to semantics which is purely linguistic. Chess exercises the brain’s semiotic organ. Children taught chess at the right age, learn to read measurably faster.
So Mr smarty pants, know it all, first anonymous. Learn about the ‘why’ of chess, before you denigrate chess and chess players.
Chess players aren’t necessarily intelligent!!! It’s possible, but not proven by any means.
They can be very poor doctors indeed.
