Cheparinov threw the kitchen sink at Ivanchuk but it did not work. Ivanchuk calmly defended an unsound attack on the Kingside by Cheparinov and scored the full point. This has to be one of the most incredible performances by any player in history.

I am very pleased that Ivanchuk has finally won another supertournament- he will really quiet those ‘desenters’ (saying he can no longer do well against the elite) with such a spectacular winning performance 8/10, 6 wins 4 draws no losses!
Ivanchuk is virtual world number 3 on 2781 now, closing in on 2800 and the world number 1 spot (indeed he wouldn’t need to do as well as here in his next tournament to achieve this- he gained 30 points here!)
His rating performance was 2977.
“This has to be one of the most incredible performances by any player in history.”
If by incredible you mean scandalous, and you are talking about Cheparinov, I concur. He rather clearly pitched his employer two free wins and then played the last round only with Topalov’s chances in mind and not playing for himself.
Knowing who runs this event, of course Topalov’s employee’s shall be invited to all future events when at all possible.
Only a great performance kept it from working out.
Yeah, Ken. Very rightly said!
Top class of Chucky he comfortably resisted both cheaters.
There’s absolutely no logic in suggesting that Cheparinov lost on purpose, any game, against anyone… Only a very sick mind can concoct such a conspiracy theory.
D.
Prize money, a won white position lost naively in the end, and the boss-servant role are prove enough, or at least evidence to wipe away the absence of “no logic at all”. Eat that!
“There’s absolutely no logic in suggesting that Cheparinov lost on purpose,”
LOL. Like Admiral Nelson putting his blind eye to the telescope and saying “I see no ships.” If you don’t understand why people would even WONDER about it, then you can’t be taken seriously.

LOL. This is the same hypocrite who had no problem with Team Topalov voicing their suspicions as fact. Now he thinks it’s sick to even wonder. You need a new screen name, dimi. You’ve sucked all the credibility out of this one.
