Susan, a question for you. In these top ranking games, like Anand v. Kasparov, or similar games, when an official makes the first move, does the player previously tell that official what to do or is he stuck with whatever first move that official made for him? (like 1. a4)
I would guess no, the player wouldn’t tell the official what to play neither would the move count.I would assume it is like a celebrity throwing the first pitch in a baseball game in the US(?) – doesn’t count for anything. But, I could be wrong 🙂
