talk about tight. Four are tied with the lead, seven within .5 of lead and ten within 1 pt of lead.
After 23 Grand Prix games (13 in Baku and 10 in Sochi), Wang Yue and Vugar Gashimov are still undefeated. Very impressive considering the opposition and the fact that not a lot of people knew their names before the Baku tournament.
They are becoming serious contenders for winning the overall Grand Prix.
That’s true, Wang Yue and Gashimov are doing incredibly well. Some surprising developments here, at least I would not have expected Chucky at 50% after 10 rounds…
Tomorrow’s prediction:
Wang Yue – Kamsky Gata 1/2
Navara David – Grischuk Alexander 0-1
Ivanchuk Vassily – Radjabov Teimour 1/2
Aronian Levon – Gelfand Boris 1-0
Karjakin Sergey – Cheparinov Ivan 1/2
Al-Modiahki Mohamad – Svidler Peter 1/2
Jakovenko Dmitry – Gashimov Vugar 0-1
Can Kamsky win this tournament?
The worldchampion after Vishy Anand will be:
Levon Aronian.
Remember then my words, let’s say five years from now…
okay from germany
Why in 5 years???
The overall Grand Prix 2008/2009 winner will play the World Cup 2009 winner in 2010. Then the winner will play the World Champion in early 2011. Thats less than 3 years away!
Can anyone tell me, how did Al-Modiahki, 355th on the FIDE rating list, got invited to this tournament?
Quite boring explaining to for 1000 times why Al Modiakhi plays…
The Fide grand Prix has 6-parts. Its of the host is granted one position for the best local player and this player will participate in 4 out of the 6 tournaments.
Al Modiahki is the local player of one of the tournaments (yet to be organized since it is scheduled for next year), and thus will play in 4 tournaments.
Other local players are Pelletier, Jakovenko, Gashimov, Navara and Inkarkiev
Yes, and Svidler, Bacrot, Cheparinov and Wang Yue were nominated by FIDE president (after Anand, Kramnik and Topalov declined to participate).
