The Heroes Day International Chess Festival took place from 26th April to 1st May, 2014, at the Chess Center, Cavans Lane, in Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados.
The tournament was split into two groups – a 6 player double round robin Master tournament and a 9 round Swiss Open Candidates tournament.
WGM Alina L’Ami was more than convincing, winning the Master Section with 9.5/10 points. She outplayed the nearest follower GM Mesgen Amanov 2-0, thus leaving him full 2 points behind.
Amanov finished second with 7.5/10 points, while local FM Delisle Warner took the bronze with 4.5/10 points.
The Open Section was won by FM Orlando Husbands with 8/9 points, followed by Gilles Suez-Panama and FM Yutien Poon on 7.5/9 points each.
