What is Kissinger doing on that list ?
Please say that is not true…

That looks like an impressive list of speakers (I looked at the website for the entire agenda). Thank you for posting this, Susan.
It’s about time the americans realize what they are doing– it is not fitting for such a wealthy country to be so careless about the environment.
By simple means like recycling and buying cars with better mileage the average american could do wonders.
Signing the Kyoto protocol wouldn’t be bad idea.
Good to see so many Nobel prize winners and at least one GM taking part.
But why so many journalists? Is that indicative of creativity or leadership? I think not.

“Why is it that when about half the climate experts honestly believe that “global warming” has little to do with humankind we hear only how destructive people are to the environment?”
It is a myth that the climate experts are split on wheter humans are affecting the climate in a meaningful way. The vast majority of climatologists believe that our contribution to global warming is significant.
Do people realize that the average american uses 40 times the energy of an indian? Our number 1 sin to the world is gluttony. We consume and throw away, consume more and throw more away, with little regard of the impact of our actions. Meanwhile Texas Governer Rick Perry is going to allow TXU (power utility) to build 11 new dirty coal power plants in the state. They aren’t even the “clean” coal plants that burn gassified coal, they are the cheapest, dirtiest power plants that money can buy and the citizens of Texas will be charged the rate of “clean” energy. Hmmm, must be part of the “clear skies” initiative.
BTW, why was Vauhaul’s message deleted? It wasn’t offensive and he’s right. If we keep heedlessly screwing with mother nature she will eventually take care of the problem by “taking care of us” and the roaches will indeed outlive us all.
He deleted his own message, not me.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar

@mendrys – i moved the post by myself to the next up blog theme!
with kindly regards, your Vohaul
Thanks for the clarification. Let’s all hope that something substantial can get done at the summit besides more hot air.
We will not have the science to prove that we are causing global warming for centuries. Today we have the technology to replace gas cars with electric ones. It is possible that we are causing global warming. A prudent civilization, an intelligent species really would not take the risk.
