Oh I finally understand.
the US Amateur East teams wear costumes. and that is her costume for the chess tournament.
Hope she wins a prize. I would love to go to this tournament. never been. but I know it is a blast of good times.
It reminds me of a yearly Tournament they hold or used to hold up in New Hampshire every summer. it is or was a continuous tournament 24 hours a day around the clock. if you fall asleep then you are out of that round until you can wake up. kind of an endurance tournament. lots of junk food consumed that weekend.
My guess is that it starts Friday evening and runs to early Sunday sometime.
She’s very pretty and a good chess player too.
