This is great news. Considering the kind of rewards the cricket team got for winning the 20-20 world cup, Anand deserves this. He is the best person India can ever produce.
I am happy for Anand that our state (i too am from the same state in India as Anand) has recognized his unmatchable feat.
God bless you..Anand
how much is this worth in american dollars or eurodollars for comparison.
Was it worth a lot of money or only a token amount?
For those of you who aren’t familiar with indian counting systems, a lakh is 100,000. So Anand has been awarded 2.5 million Rupees. That’s about €45000 or $64000.
BTW, I use oanda.com for currency conversions. Note: I know nothing about the company, except their site is handy.
That is a very nice award.
Congratulations Vishy old pal. I will be over for my 10% cut.
Do you think there is any chance I can learn chess well enough to win that kind of money.
NO. not a chance.
