Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Where’s Kasparov and Karpov?
That is no serious question, is it? Kasparov retired from chess years ago and Karpov is way below the 2700 threshold.
Also, it comes down to the definition of “active”. Judith Polgar had not exactly been participating in many events in recent years but as long as she has a game or two once in a while she will remain listed.
Has Judit gone into Semi-retirement or will she make another run at 2700+ ?
Don’t see Danailov?
Aren’t some of the women rather old to be called ‘girls’ ?
Not sure up to what age you are considered “boy” or “girl” according to FIDE. Probably on their website.
However, why are you just mentioning the girls’ age – the baoys are in the same range?!
Anand is the best, his match win proved of more value than Topa’s one. Especially considering Topa was lucky (or at least worse) in many of his games won.
Topa will never win a match against Vishy.
The best ladies are not yet as good as the best gentlemen. The terrific Judith is 37th and Humpy (2nd best lady player) probably below 150. Of course ladies are getting better in this age of computer chess. They (most of them) really never had the patience or fortitude to excel in chess during the pre computer days.
Topalov is breaking away. In October there was 10 points from number 1 to number 6- 6 months later Topalov is ~30 points above number 2! 3 times bigger gap over 3 times less people!
If this continues Topalov might finally become undisputed champion by beating Anand and perhaps having a 50+ point gap and be dominating again.
