There were two moves that looked somewhat similar to me on a glance, but only one seems to win, but I chose wrong the first time through by playing 1.h4. It is important in the winning line to be able to take away f4 at a key juncture while still being able to play h4:
Well, Ana your initial “Be3+” move is blocking the rook – which means your “Be6+” will not end up mating – lol, but loose not heart,you will end up exchanging of pieces in your advantage,if manipulated precisely at the point of the move – lol.
Well,this puzzle opens up,lots of possible moves – I was just looking for forking transfix – which doesn’t exist,if the Black piece is an expert in chess,so to list all possible combination that may take lot of time,which goes out of context as of here.
so lets assume that Black piece player isn’t expert but good at chess – then given below moves of mine will make the white piece to win the game in 4 moves.
1.Bh4+ K*f5 2.Be6+ Kf4 3.Bg3+ Kg5 4.h4++ mate { If Black piece is expert then he/she may elude mating from white }
well,yesterday I had an intention to submit my 2nd comment for this chess puzzle but I was carried away by other contents of the web site,so now I am posting my second comment for this chess puzzle.
As usual brilliant minds of this blog had discussed the moves very clearly.
In my first comment to this chess puzzle – I had said that if the Black piece is a chess expert,he/she will elude from white piece matting – so now would you all like to know,how that could be ?
Wait I am going to say that to you all now – If Black piece is a chess expert then he/she after reading / analyzing the piece position,would have RESIGNED without playing further – lol , lol – How is it ?

1. Bh4! Kf5 (Kf/g4 2.Re4 Kf5 3.g4#)
2. Be6 Kf4
3. Bg3 Kg5
4. h4#
Matt in 2.
1.Be3+ Kxf5
2.Be6++
1. Bh4+ Kg4
2. Re4++
OR
1. Bh4+ Kf4
2. Re4+ Kf5
3. g4++
OR
1. Bh4+ Kf5
2. Be6+ Kf4
3. Bg3+ Kg5
4. h4++
I think the point here is to force black king to move to fourth rank, and then check with rook on d4, then Rd1 trapping black queen
Tactic 1
1.Bh4+ Kxf5
2.Be6+ Kf4
3.Bg3+ Kg5
4.h4#
Tactic 2
1.Bh4+ Kg4
2.Re4+ kXF5
3.g4#
Tactic 3
1.Bh4+ Kf4
2.Re4+ Kxf5
3.g4#
1. Bh4+ Kxf5
2. Be6+ Kf4
3. Bg3+ Kg5
4. h4#
Other options at move 1 are faster mates:
1. – Kf4 or Kg4
2. Re4+ Kxf5
3. g4#
1. h4+
Mate in 3 or 4:
1. Bh4 Kf5
2. Be6 Kf4
3. Bg3 Kg5
4. h4
or:
1. Bh4 Kf4 (or Kg4)
2. Re4 Kf5
3. g4
1. Bh4+
if 1. .. Kxf5 then
2. Be6+ Kf4
3. Bg3+ Kg5
4. h4#
if 1. .. Kg4 or 1. .. Kf4 then
2. Re4+ Kxf5
3. g4#

This one took me a while until I figured out the pawn is the hero!
1. Bh4+ Kxf5
2. Be6+ Kf4
3. Bg3+ Kg5
4. h4#
1.Bh4 ….if Fxf5 2.Be6 Kf4 3.Bg3 Kg5 4. h4 Matt
If. 1…Kg4 (If Kf4, 2.g3 Kg4 (if2…Kf5 3.Be6 Matt), 3.h3 Kxh3 (If 3…Kxf5 4.Be6 Matt), 4. Rh1 Matt), 2.h3 Kf5 3.Be6 Kf4 4.g3 Kf3 4.Bd5 Kf2 5. g4 Matt
Bh4 1000.00 +++++++++++
Well, let’s see:
1 – Bh4+, Kf5
2 – g4+(!), Kg4
3 – Rd4+, Kh3 or Kf5
4 – Ra4 trapping black queen and win.
