Dear Chess Community,
This might not be the best site to post it, but I would like to take the opportunity to thank the real chess fans for following my games, and for the positive criticisms.
Thank you also to GM Susan Polgar and PT for their help in abundance, which I owe them so much.
And especially I would like to thank God Father, for letting me reach 2700 even once.
On to the next big thing!
Best regards,
Wesley So
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Way to go Wesley! Good luck on your next tourney. I am already anticipating actions in August. Good luck, same with sir Barbosa.
I hope that Wesley So never plays any 3-move draw again. It’s a disappointment to his watching fans who expect at least a semblance of a game regardless of rating considerations. 2700 is just a number. You’ll get in and out of there many times in your career.
The 3 move draw was a wise decision. It’s a sign of maturity. Why take the risk of playing black against a stronger player. As Wesley becomes better in Chess, he can reach to even higher ratings. The 2700 ELO level is a class in itself. A feat so few people can reach. Wesley is now the youngest of the top 100 players worldwide. Bright future ahead. Thanks to Susan Polgar. You are bringing out the best in Wesley.
Good job Wesley but dont play a 3-move game again. hehe. Have confidence in yourself.
I hope that 3-move drawn game is not a sign of things to come. Whoever influenced Wesley to play that way did chess fans a great disservice. Has Susan played such a game in her life? A 3-move draw? I doubt it.
Congrats Wesley it’s such an achievement but next time try to have more confidence in yourself and test your full potential whenever possible.I believe that someday you will have what it takes to become a world champion( i.e. Talent, perseverance and a HEART) Good luck and God bless.

There’s a perfect example of an unthinking fan who doesn’t realize he’s doing his idol a great disservice. Nearly everything he said was wrong or dumb.
Congrats Wesley….move forward to attain more new heights for Philippine Chess and Sports in general. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas…I do believe that you made the right decision on the 3 move draw under the circumstances…and nobody can take away your great accomplishment…Go…Go…Wesley…God bless
Wesley you have just attained another great achievement in chess. You are very young talented kid please do not be affected with people’s bad comments on whatever decisions you make in your chess life. You know what is best for you we will always support you. “Ang galing mo talaga Wesley ibang iba style mo e” keep it up and CONGRATULATIONS! Kennedy Rojas
Maybe Wesley just wants to rest at the 2700 plateau rating then going to proceed to higher level, but hopefully he will be more daring next time and no more 3 move quickie.
When you transfer to a new house in a better place, the first thing you do is get a feeling of what’s around. You don’t roam boisterously as if you know the area and people. You tend to be careful and mindful with your movements.
It is his way of taking himself into the 2700 level and it may take a bit of a while. When he gets comfortable and bored, he’ll get out of his box and start daring into the next frontier.
Wesley, you have just said the greatest acknowledgment you can ever say, “thanking God” for your achievement! And for that I salute you and wish that you can achieve more for God and for your country.
