The 1st Yerevan International Open Tournament is taking place from 2-10th October, 2016, at the Chess Academy of Armenia in Yerevan.
The tournament is open to all Fide rated players and the playing format is 9-round Swiss system.
137 players from ten countries, including 21 Grandmasters and 10 International Masters, are competing.
Of the surprising results in the first two rounds, David Ziroyan defeated GM Avital Boruchovsky, Karen Hovhannisyan stunned GM Hovhannes Gabuzyan, while Romik Hakobyan (1898) won against GM Gevorg Harutjunyan.
