Daily Chess Improvement: Attacking Chess Tactic! Chess tactic, Puzzle Solving White to move. How should White proceed?
1.Bg7+ Kg8 (1…Bxg7 2.Qxg7#)
2.Bxf6+ Kf8
3.Qg8#
Bg7+ the windmill tactic works here I think
1. Bg7+ Kg8
2. Bxf6+ Rxg4
3. Rxg4+ Kf8
4. Bxd8 is an exchange up.
Haridaran: Yes, White is an exchange up, but Black has compensation. How do you propose to win from here?!
What davey said:
After,
1. Bg7+ Kg8
2. Bxf6+ Rxg4
3. Rxg4+ Kf8
4. Bxd8 black can try to attack the g2 pawn with the rook, bishop and knight.
But I think white prevails:
5. … Rc8 seems to be blacks best try.
6. Bf6! with mate threats.
A:
7. … Nxd3
8. Rd4 Rc2
9. Rxd6!
B:
7. … Nxd3
8. Rd4 Nf2+
9. Kg1 Rc2
10. Rxf2!
(not 10. Rxd6?? Nh3+ and white gets mated.)
C:
7. … Nb3
8. Rg7 Rc2
9. Rxh7 Ke8
10. Rd8+ Kd7
11. Re7+ and mates.
The davey posting here is not the davey who has posted before, namely me!
1. Bg7+ Kg8 2. B:f7+ R:g4 3. R:g4+ Kf8 4. B:d8 Rc8 5. Bf6 and Black has no reasonable defense to 6. Re1. For instance:
5…. Ke8 6. Re1+ Kd7 7. Re7+ Kd8 8. Rg8#
5…. N:d3 6. R:d3
5…. Re8 6. Re1+ Kd7 7. R:e8 K:e8 8. Rg8+ Kd7 9. Rd8#
